i do wondered sometimes why that gets looked back on so fondly, on a lot of occasions and the highlights barrie wasn't playing the game, he was literally trying to assault fielden.
it went beyond his typical pantomime villain character.

| Luke Thompson to Canterbury with immediate effect is all over Twitter, apparently.
Stevie Ward to TWP looks a done deal too.

Guessing Thompson isn't too keen on winning silverware then.

| The commentators on the Canterbury game at the weekend were fairly adamant that Thompson would be signing this week. This could really de-rail Saints' season. Not that i think they were doing particularly well anyway. They have to keep Roby and Walmsley fit now. Not easy. Their young players they have brought through aren't up to the standard of a top side and won't be either except Matty Lees. All they need now is Niquama to leave and they are back to sqaure 1. Most teams have 10 year cycles (the top sides) 10 years of mediocrity followed by 10 years of success. Saints seem to have 9 years of mediocrity and 1 year of success.

| When the Saints fans were crowing all over here in 2018 (they actually became slightly more humble last year on the back of the blow ups in 201icon_cool.gif about how they were going to win everything, I said numerous times they should enjoy the success (and they’ve had nowhere near the amount they should have)because time was ticking and it would only be a matter of time before they lost at least 2 or 3 of the four most important parts of that good side. The main man in Holbrook has gone. He was a superb coach and turned the place around (and as a Wiganer he was annoyingly likeable). After him they’ve got a front row which would be as good as anything and better than the vast majority of NRL teams and it’s what their game has been based around. They will lose Thompson soon and Roby isn’t getting any younger. When Walmsley is isolated you can then really target him and all of a sudden guys like Lomax and Fages are nowhere near as effective.

| It was always going to happenm and It just goes to show that being successful ultimately leads to your best players being snapped up by the NRL. It's happened to us so many times and I guess that's the price we've had to pay for our success.
Shame it happens though.

Yep this is probably the worst for me. I heard an ex-Wigan player's take on it not long ago, who was on the pitch at the time, and it made it evenworse for me.
I also think Mason on Long nearly as bad - luckily for Long the contact was on his forehead rather than eye/cheekbone otherwise it probably would've done serious damage.

| Thompson has left Saints with immediate effect. Saints pretty scathing in their press release saying they had to get rid as he was the only player who refused a pay cut during this pandemic. Ironic that considering the Saints fans always said their chance of keeping him was that he came from a wealthy family. Guess that’s how you become rich!

Normally a bit disappointed when quality players leave for the NRL but as it's Saints, nah.
Leaving on bad terms makes it even better.
Wonder how long it takes RedVee to decide he was completely overrated anyway

Big loss for them, and in the current climate can’t see them pulling off an overseas signing for this season to replace him unless Wolfe has his eye on one of the Tongan lads on the fringe of an NRL squad.
Their has clearly been a fall out somewhere between player and club which I think is a shame given he has been associated with the club for 13 years.
Interesting times at Saints not sure Wolfe is winning the fans over or players in some cases with his methods.
