| Quote yogi bear="yogi bear"Dorn probably gave himself up and it probably wasn't a try- but the fact is the on field ref gave it as a try and from no angle did I see conclusive proof to overturn the decision .
Either way - as a Saints fan I have far bigger things to worry about at the moment - starting with Saturday afternoon'"
Yeah, I suppose falling short and then knocking on is not very conclusive is it? We need more evidence than that to disallow a try against Wigan.

Didn't Cas get favourable Video decision a few weeks ago at home against Salford where the ball was conclusively from all angles lost about six inches above the try line, despite this Silverwood gave the try. Quite simply the worst video ref decision I have ever seen. I looked for Powell's post match comments about this and couldn't find any mention of it. That 'try' gave Cas the momentum to go on and win the game.
Swings and roundabouts, suck it up buttercup!

| I think the amount of penalties Cas got when they were stuck un their own half disproves any theories about Thaler being biased in any way.
Of all the try/ no try decisions Suttons was the one hardest done by.
Right from the start Gale and Solomona were mouthing off to the ref well before any decisions were made. If that's their starting point it's only going to go downhill from there.
One thing no one mentioned yet which is strange considering the flack Farrell got for a similar incident. When Charnley scored, the defender went in with his knees to put him in touch. No attempt to make a tackle, straight in with the knees - strange other teams fans aren't frothing at the mouth over it.

I actually thought that the worst video reffing decision I've seen in a long and chequered history of poor video ref decisions. I wondered if that might be the one that would break the camel's back with regard to this daft 'try on the field or no try on the field' rule, which adds nothing whatever to to the game but yet again manages to turn our officials into rule-begirt automatons with no will of their own.
The fact that fans from - surprise, surprise! - St Helens thought that 'try on the field' decision last night should have gone to Cas even though the replay plainly showed that it wasn't a try, says it all about a certain kind of RL mentality.

| Thaler got most decisions right but he was conned twice by Dorn tunnelling forward at the ptb. Dorn could also have spent 10 mins in the bin for instigating a brawl. I must be right, even Stevo said so.

| Quote Cherry_Warrior="Cherry_Warrior"Yogi can you give us some examples?
The Cas disallowed tries were rightly turned down. Sutton is a flip of a coin but i think it was a try. The Bateman incident was nothing at all, a bit of biff AFTER the penalty had already been given. Webster rightly got binned and he and Solomona were shiithousing from minute 1. Their heads were not on the game tonight for whatever reason.'"
Funny how you lot never mention Sam Tomkins continually haranging the ref. Is he now the captain?

So on a night when we saw nothing but Cas players losing it, even to the point where one of them was yellow-carded for shouting and bawling at the referee ... that's the best you can come up with. Seriously?

| The penalty / no penalty decision on halftime should never have got that far. Watch again at the ptb leading up to the kick. The Cas player is tackled and the clock is on 40 minutes BEFORE the ball is played, at that point the hooter should have been blown.
I'm sure someone on here can post a screen shot.
Sam won Wigan the game with those two tackles.

Admitted some of the Cas players complained, but do your cherry & white coloured glasses allow you to see why?
You could try to comment on the actual issues rather than just pathetically trying to mock my comment. I suppose it's typical of you lot though.

I said the same at the time, the hooter went 2 - 3 seconds after the clocked ticked over to 40:00 allowing Cas to get that extra play.

| I thought under the laws the ref is the official time-keeper, and isn't required to stick to the hooter?
Just on Dorn 'tunnelling' at the p-t-b: I only remember one occasion, when he won a penalty.
I remarked on the VT thread about the ridiculous bias levels in Sky's commentary. It's really getting out of hand. I especially noticed it last week, comparing the fairly neutral BBC commentaries of the MW games on the Superleague Show with what I'd heard on Sky earlier. It was like two completely different games!
Anyway, back to Dorn. When he won that pen, Stevo or Tez or whoever the hell it was said "Ha! He really milked that!" in approving terms. Well, yes, it was milking, but is that OK now, and to be applauded? Or only applauded when it's done against Wigan? I thought that was really poor.

The commentators had a shocker.
One of our idiot ex-props actually seemed to approve of the Cas players when they all needlessly ran in on the Bateman incident. It went something like: "We all know how aggressive Wigan are and you have to stick up for your mates."
What a pile of crap from a bone-headed pillock.
The Cas players, who were far too fired up for their own good almost turned it into a mass-brawl, and it was a nothing incident.
Are that shower really the best that Sky Sports can offer us?

| I have just been reading through the Cas Forum, i cannot believe how much stick they are giving Thaler. If they think that was a bad performance they obviously don't watch too many games. Not one of them has the balls to admit they were second best and their thug mentality they turned up with last night backfired on them big style. Idiots.

I can't say I saw any thuggery from either team. Both teams out to prove that they wouldn't be physically intimidated. Cas went over the top a bit with their manner and it probably contributed to their defeat far more than Thaler.
My complaints are generic but amplified last night in namely 1) not playing the ball correctly : 2) not playing the ball off the mark and 3) too much chelp from the players.
All of these are within the referees remit to resolve and are exceptionally easy to put right.
The amount of chelp coming from players of all teams is now beyond the pale and personally I think it can only get worse unless the RL acts. Any abuse to the officials should be a an immediate red card with no exceptions. Bleating and moaning asking for penalties and impersonating Christ on the cross (Clarke at Wire one of the worst) should be a yellow card and if repeated a red.
There are few acts of thuggery on the field these days and fans need to remember that's it's a game of rugby and that from time to time tackles will be mistimed and tackles that start around the shoulder aren't players out head hunting as Stev would have us believe.
