One club chairman & one CEO, seem to think they rule the game,!Elstone has been a disappointment, but I wonder how much his hands were tied? Agree some clubs do bring little, especially with development, I've said before there were 9 under 16 clubs in my birth town, I ran one with a friend, the pro club decided to start an under 16 side, next season it was down to TWO under 16 clubs? a successful club butthey never helped once with the local amateur youth game!



I get more concerned if we end up reverting to just being The RFL again, more so under Rimmer! We neeed someone with personality and who understands the sport, inside out, Jon Wilkin?

Wilkin????? What does he know about running an organisation! There lies the problem with RL fans.



Get a proper business minded, experienced CEO in.

Can i remind you that Gus was an experienced CEO, sadly he just wasn't very good at it.



I'm not sure those SL clubs that do so little to advance the game ahead of their teams would allow a strong CEO the amount of control needed to drive the game forward so am expecting a puppet appointment in due course

Wilkin is a very successful businessman! I would rather have someone who can present the right image for the sport, and knows what he's talking about!



I was all for the involvement with our game from Barry & Eddie Hearn, but those two high powered club chairmen & CEO's, didn't like the idea of losing their power!

Agree with you jaybs, he does have the right sort of image to move the game forward. At least i understand what he says but always consider putting on the subtitles when Jamie Peacock is talking.



Whoever is appointed, they will still have to deal with the blinkered view of some SL owners.

People are tweeting tonight that Eddie Hearn needs to be brought in, Wilkin working with him, could that work? I feel they would be in the sane wavelength!

In what way is Jon Wilkin a 'very successful businessman'? Please tell me that you've formed this conclusion because he owns 50% of a coffee shop.

You seem to have forgotten the apostrophe after coffee shop, Shop's or Cafe's



During his playing days Jon always had several businesses, before the one in Manchester City Centre, which a lot of players do not consider, also his work with The BBC has shown his presentation skills, which very few RL players have! It's fine getting a top businessman, but if they do not grasp the sport it is pointless, that is why I said working with Eddie Hearn. But we know already that those who will decide will have no adventure, they simply want a Yes Man to do what they want and say!

Are we appointing a BBC presenter or a CEO to run the game??

A Coffee shop owner and previous leader of a players union is not suitable experience to manage a national/international sport- Simple



Get another Lewis in. It's not a Wilkin or Hearn scenario. Neither of them are suitable. The game has shown it is willing to spend on the right person so lets get someone competent in.

The idea Wire-quin that Rugby League is either a) National or b) International on any meaningful level is quite laughable.



Don't think either jaybs or myself are suggesting Wilkin do it on his own but as part of a duo it could be ideal. But as said previously, the Flat Earthers of SL need to put the game first otherwise no matter who gets the gig it will be more of the same.

This was Eddie Hearn's summary of discussions with RFL in 2018 (per the FT):

One coffee shop, now with half the staff it used to have. They closed the other shop due to it effectively going bust.

Not convinced that's all the facts! but if you wish to attack Jon Wilkin, go on! I still stand by what I said about Jon and what he offers to the sport,

Which ever way you look at it, RL is in the toilet just waiting to be flushed. If nothing changes (which is what some SL clubs are clearly happy with) then it is only a question of time before someone pulls the handle.



Leaving aside running coffee shops, what type of individual do you think would make a success of the job for the game?

I would say we need someone who has experience high up in sport, like Lewis was and continues to be.



Someone who cant 'talk' to and influence internal and external stakeholders, such as the Govt, Sport England, club chairman, sponsors........



Someone who has a vision and can develop a strategy thats agreed by the sport which is measurable. Thats not a lot to ask but too much for the current incumbents such as Rimmer and co.

Embarrassed? someone maybe! people need to take care with claims they make! with screenshotting these days everything is always in the public arena, I had claims against me on a music company website which were not truthful, and I was successful with libel.
