| Rumour on the Widnes forum is that you've signed our former junior player, Shane Grady. He's currently in Aus playing park footy.

Well we certainly need some centres though if this guy is rated below Chris Dean I'd have some serious worries. Can he tackle?

| One Widnes fan reckoned he lacked pace, so as good as Howell and Jo'C then, and probably cheaper. Still it is another young Brit, so he won't get homesick.

| He got fast-tracked into the Championship first team but didn't seem to set the world alight. He got spelled a lot at second row as he didn't seem nippy enough to be in the backs at the time.
But in the strong Academy sides he was highly rated and I think he played for Lancs in County of Origin. Also a good goal-kicker.
He recently got selected for some sort of NSW Country side.

| He will be okay in our country side. I remember our pre-season and the team lost in the country side. Maybe the plans for the season were hidden under the big rock found on one of the pictures and were never retrieved.

What does that matter.
Who is shaping the team in preperation for next year? I wonder if we have a coach lined up who is giving the nod on player selection/procurement. Am I using to much logic

The number of players we already have contracted up to the end of next season gives us VERY little room for fresh recruitment, unless DH would be happy to pay off the contracts of the under-performers.

Now that is a major concern.
Even if there is a better coach coming in.
As for recruiting. Generally speaking they ask the coach who they want for next season. Then go out and find them. If a coach got the old tin tack, then the new coach ends up with the players the previous coach wanted.
Unless of course you know that your coach is going at the end of the year and the new coach talks to the recruitment fella before he even gets to the new club as was the case with Maguire going to South Sydney and talking to Mark Hughes about signing Matt King etc.
I would suggest without any foundation that London know who will be coaching next season and Bailey is on the case.

We can only hope that this is the case, but that the coach is not planned to be Rob Powell.

| SG was on my radar as a possible right centre for 2013.
But it was not this SG, it was Sean Gleeson, now picked up by Hull KR.

| Think some of you are being very harsh on a player you haven't seen or know very little about.
Ask yourself how many quality centres there are, which of these are available, and which of those available would come down to London? Brown, as an example, is going to Widnes to be nearer to family, so he is one that wouldn't.
Had we made top 8 this year, one or two might have made the move but that's a big "might" imo.
Face facts, we are never going to attract the best players from up North and with a reducing overseas quota, we have limited options. (still say Tony Martin would have done a job for us earlier in the year...although crocked now).
Anyhoo, let's give this guy a chance (if he comes and as we know, that can never be taken for granted at this club!).
PS Colly - Couldn't have signed SG. We don't do strawberry blondes here, you know.

| I welcome competition for a place in the outside backs.
O'Callaghan has scored only 13 tries in 75 Super League games including 1 try this season and his defence is appalling. He has been on the winning side in just 19% of games and has been unable to form a defensive or attacking partnership with any of his centre or wing partners since being introduced. I am sure someone will point out that he was player of the year but anyone with eyesight knows that he was leaking three or four tries per game on his wing most of the first half of that same season and that the vote was due to the comparative huge improvement. In my view he has improved from an under 20s Centre to about a third tier centre and has fulfilled his potential so there is no more to come .
Howell is finished as a Super League centre and as truth be told has been a liability for three seasons. He has never recovered from the Purdham assisted training injury and has only played about half of the games in the past three years and barely looked like threatening the line. The club is stuck with him on a big contract so are desperate to get some contribution but I would just pay him off like happened with Kouparitsas. He might make a sub doing short minutes at best. But this frustration may manifest in further ill discipline.
Colbon has been released from two other SL clubs because he is injury prone despite his quality. So you cannot count on him.
Lovell and an in form Sarginson look to be the best centres we have at the club in potential but they have only one season or less of conditioning.
I'd welcome a Centre who can make tackles, supply his winger and ideally score about 10 tries a season. We have two wingers with raw pace and one great finisher in Robertson. This guy might solve a problem. Let's hope so. At least he is neither O'C or Howell. They are as bad as Gafa and Wells in their last season together.

There's a Dennis Moran mentioned in that article...now there's a men we could do with now (if he wasn't 62).

Was a centre/second row at Widnes.
Story is in some doubt anyway if you look at yesterday's post by Sunny on the Widnes board.
