Quote ="wantawin"We have not had thousands of fans over the last 15 - 20 years, the large crowds were when we played the likes of Wigan, Leeds, Bradford, St Helens and Warrington. We lost support when we moved from the Stoop to Barnet because of the travel time if you lived south of the river, the final nail in the coffin was the losing streak we had at Barnet and getting relegated to the championship.'"
The decline started last time around at The Stoop. We averaged 4,000 in the last season at Griffin Park (2005) but by the time we left The Stoop (2013) we were down to 2,380 despite playing against similar teams. The Hive had the dubious honour of halving the average to 1,294 in that notably dismal SL season (2014) and halving it again, though more understandably, in the Championship (2015) to 634.
People in London have a lot of choice about how to spend their time and money. However exciting RL is as a sport, I think the minimum requirement to build a crowd is a competitive and hard working team.
