| Mark Evans has just become Chief Exec at the Storm in today's buyout from News Limited. Interesting stuff - shame we weren't able to capitalise on his obvious like for TGG at the time eh...

AFAIK, Evans was on the same wavelength as Lenagan, but not that of Hughes or the list of CEO's who followed Brown.
This assertion comes from conversations I had with 2 different members of Staff at the club at the time by the way and is therefore not one of my apparently "unsubstantiated" opinions icon_mrgreen.gif" alt="icon_mrgreen.gif" title="Mr. Green" />
Good Luck to all involved in Melbourne......the NRL/ARL/News Limited have shown the RFL the way to successfully launch and initially run an expansion club in enemy territory....this next chapter in their existance is key to their long term survival.

| Watch if the Storm become unsuccessful on the pitch over the next few years. And watch their attendances which are made up of a large number of expats from other states ie. QLD and NSW.
Their success on and therefore off the pitch happened because they did cheat after all, for several years, by deliberately going over the cap and running two sets of books.
I've always been interested in the parallel between London and Melbourne. And as GF has pointed out before, the Storm always were owned by a seriously large endless pot of cash.

London Broncos v2 have trouble running with one set of books.......let's not confuse them any more that is really necessary icon_lol.gif" alt="icon_lol.gif" title="Laughing" />
Londons support is also made up of ex-pats from the wildernesses of the north such as Wire-quin (together with a motley crew that would send your average Millwall fan reaching for his favourite teddy).
Always wondered why the club didn't try to get more ex-pat northerners to adopt us as "their second" team? Would seem to have been one of the easier "sells".

| I am an ex-pat Wiganer with previous for scaring Millwall fans. I meet other ex pats who have no interest whatsoever in watching live RL in the capital. When I ask them they just shrug their shoulders. I have never understood this phenomenon since 1982 when I arrived here.

1,000 or so of the crowd last week would in all probability have been Wigan fans based in the area.....these are the people the club need to entice back.....IMO that is.
