The Olympics has never really excited me. I never played 'track & field' at school, most of the sports I like are not Olympic sports (cricket, rugby, golf). Just because it's in London, doesn't mean I'm any more interested.
The most intriguing aspect for me is the Olympic Park itself and the whole sustainability / 'legacy' (nebulous concept that it is) angle. I had a tour of the Park a few months back and it looked in better shape than I imagined. The Velodrome is genuinely impressive. The Athlete's Village is pretty standard modern developer-boxy housing though, which was disappointing.
You can't deny that the Olympics has been good as it has given the government the jab it needed to regenerate Stratford, which has been transformed (no Westfield without it).
