I used a wrong term of phrase Charlie, yes I meant to say British players, not home grown as coming through the system, obviously I am well aware of those player's having signed for other clubs, please tell me where is the ambition in letting 4 of our better performers go to other clubs, they should have been retained and others brought in, but no, they also have to be replaced as I said before and will repeat total bad management.

Harry , I’m presuming you are a Leyther fan of many years , the same as myself , I stand corrected if I’m wrong .I agree with your point about letting the said 4 players go , but they are out of contract at the end of the season ,and can negotiate with any Club they choose to , Leigh cannot stop this , it has been happening for generations and will happen for many years in the future .



Yeah they should have been kept , but how do we stop Hood from wanting to play in Yorkshire , or Thorniley wanting to play for Wigan , or Russell wanting to sign for Club gauaranteed SL .?Our Club are fighting a battle they cannot win there , again everyone knows players have to be brought in , hopefully we can attract a bit of quality , myself I’m not going to say it’s bad management , because whoever was in charge the same thing would have happened .



I’m optimistic we will survive , I do think if we are reprieved ,we will still struggle , but it will take a few years to establish ourselves as a solid SL club , even Hull KR , Wakey , Salford , and Hudds who have been in SL a while now are not strong SL clubs , if Wigan , Saints , Leeds or Warrington come calling players will leave them ,Sezar has left Hudds for Leeds , as an example , I’m sure Ian Watto would love to keep him , but that’s life .I love reading your posts and respect your info as I do with others on here .Keep posting .

A strictly left field suggestion, now that the WC has been put back again could it be Shaun Wane, and behind the scenes he has recommended Joel Tomkins?

Harry I always take notice when either you or Monty post something , I’m a big Waney fan and would love to see him involved at Leigh , in any capacity , I think Joel T will be a good signing , he’s not frightened to give his opinion and he may be getting on at 34 but we have lacked a running second rower for a while now .Let’s get Ryan Brierley and James Bell signed now .

That's a decent shout. Would be impressive if it is. Certainly an upgrade on the previous incumbents of that role.



Hope we have a coach in place for next season. We really need to hit the ground running for pre-season this time around if we are to have a crack at finishing in the top 10 next season. (Assuming that no relegation is to be formally announced.)

Those two would be high up on my list also. According to the 'ITK' account on Twitter (which is very hit-and miss) Bell has signed for another Super League club and Brierley has offers on the table from a couple of other clubs, as well as an offer from Leigh.



Beyond those two, however, I can't name many from this year's squad that I would be looking to retain to be brutally honest. It will be interesting to see how the performances are affected from now until the end of the season now that they are, it would seem, playing for a Super League contract for next season.

I’ve not seen or heard anything about Bell or Brierley , only rumours , the majority of our current squad are just not good enough and must be released .



This season everyone has been saying how we started the season late ,in regard to new signings , and we were given a lot less than other SL Clubs , being a newly promoted Vlub , but what is the ruling now in regards to the Central Funding ..?Are we still on a smaller Salary Cap or we be granted the same as other SL clubs .?And if 2 are being promoted from the Championship ,will their salary cap be less than the other Clubs ?



It seems we are now planning for next season and signing players ,if the bottom 4 clubs get relegated next season ,then we must improve vastly to be in with a chance of being in the top 10 .I’m sure Derek knows this and will act and sign accordingly .

Whatever the division we are in next season, lessons must and should be learned by the selection of the squad that was amassed to compete in this years Championship had we been in that division, I am not convinced that we could have finished better than both Toulouse and Fev, if as has been published on more than one occasion Mr Beaumont's aim is to be in SL in 2023 then we must be competeing to sign the best player's that become available and not settling for the mediocre ones like Tierney, McCarthy, Elliss and co.

Well we’re behind the 8 ball again with likely 11 clubs taking a flyer on us, but not as snookered as this season so looking to be more competitive that’s for sure - have to say the chances of top 10 next season are very remote

To finish tenth or better in Super League in 2022 will require additions to the squad of sufficient quality to be worthy of finishing at that level without expecting all the players to play above themselves every week. I would expect Castleford and Huddersfield to be competitors for ninth and ten positions next season, so we need to build a squad equal or better than Cas. A tough ask given the comparative recruitment so far, but if the ambition is there maybe we are in the market to recruit players of the required standard to meet this ambition. I remain surprised that we have failed to retain some of our better players who are reported to be playing elsewhere next season. I just hope that they will be replaced with higher quality.

10th is plenty good enough as only those in positions 11 - 14 would be relegated, your post therefore makes zero sense !

As you rightly say Ste , 10 place would be a huge success , I’d be over the moon , I’m sure all Leythers including Derek would be .

10th would be the beginnings of sustainability. That would do for me for next season (if things change as widely rumoured).

Can't really see that the 11 SL clubs - we are only a visitor - are going to vote for a reduction in funding by going to 14 clubs, but if it meant by going to 14 SL clubs that is going to deprive some clubs of their much needing funding then I will take relegation first and build from there.

Well maybe 10 take a bit of a hit next year to benefit from the new deal
