Definitely. Moylan's contract should be put straight in front of Ipape. Given Lam is highly unlikely to renew, can't afford to lose Ipape at the same time as well.

A very good point, and a big risk/blow
Signing Ipape up would be huge.
But did lam jr not sign a new deal around the hull rumours time, know we reportedly offered it him, it all then when quiet after we stated he’d be here for 25

Not seen any announcement of a new contract, and am sure the club would've shouted from the rooftops if he'd extended. So he's either been given a pay rise to stay for 2025, or the club were correct in their claim that his clause was only applicable for NRL clubs.

| Unless Lam Jnr has already signed a new deal I cannot see him staying, him being none quota means clubs will pay a premium for him and I can see him going to Catalans if no NRL deal materialises.

| There are confusing on-line reports regarding the actual status of our quota space. The 'Serious About Rugby League' web site reports that we have space available while the 'Love Rugby League' website reports that only Catalans and Huddersfield have quota space available.

| Lazy reporting from Love Rugby League. They are wrong.
Unbelievably, SARL are correct for once.
We are allowed 7 overseas players and at the moment we have 5 - Armstrong, Niu, Pene, Ipape & Liu.
We have 2 spaces available if as reported Condon fails to pitch-up. All the reports are that we are in for Alec Tuitavake as a replacement.
Basically, we have a space to fill following Moylen's unexpected 'retirement'.
Love Rugby League get a bit vague on reporting accuracy once it involves teams outside of Wakefield and Castleford.

| Thanks Jack, good to hear. Eventually we may even get clarification from the club and possibly even an announcement of the squad numbers.

| Derek is recommending patience amongst those of us who cannot wait for news but has promised more signings - plural is the key to that word.
Makes it all interesting all this speculation.
I'd definitely take Sneyd from Salford if he became available and I really do think that he will become available. Fire sale imminent in Dumplington. Question is whether he would prefer the wonders of our great town and club over not so sunny Costa Del Kingston

| Nakubuwai being at the foundation event at the wren makes me think he must be contracted for next season. So our quota spots are taken unless the Condon deal has / does fall through

If the attached article link below is correct from the much maligned Love Rugby League (in Castleford and Wakefield) then Big Ben's contract with us is already up in which case we have 1 or 2 quota spots available depending on the Condon position.
His presence or otherwise at Leigh training or other functions is perhaps due to the fact that he is simply looking for another club in this country and we are happy to have him train with us whilst he does so. It is not necessarily a sign that he has been re-signed.

| Why cant the club give an any clarity around players contracts I don’t understand it at all, for all the good things we do this is a real weakness, Jack Hughes, Nakabuwai, Brand, Derbyshire and Wilde all seem to still be with us even thought here contracts have so called expired, they must have signed extensions but we would never know.

It is very frustrating. Same happened last year with Nisbet, Nakubuwai and Hanley.

Looks like Salford are in for turbulent times. In case you want to know what £700K under the Salary cap looks like, picture Castleford last season. Of course Salford are not at salary cap to start with. Sneyd will soon be going onto the open market with Hull KR and Leigh both interested, no doubt others will be looking to pick the carcass of what remains of Salford club
n.b. Sorry misread "That process has now been completed, and Salford has been informed that they must devise a plan to reduce their costs to a sum understood to be in the region of £700,000, leaving the club in a position where they will need to move on a number of players to get under that figure." Salford would in fact be £1.4M under the salary cap - looks like Ryan Brierley will be playing with a team of U18's - as McDonald, Marsters, Lafai, and Watkins get sold off.

Not sure how this will help Salford in the short-term because income streams will only kick in during the playing season. They could possibly argue that the severe cuts do not have to be so severe, but it will depend on how realistic those income stream will be. They may still have to sell players before the season starts.

| So Condon is officially released due to an accident having an impact on his health. Hope he is ok.
And we sign Alec Tuitavake as a direct replacement for Amone.

"He will act as a replacement for Tom Amone and Tuitavake revealed that he spoke to the former Leyther before his move to the club.
“When my manager rang me and said Leigh Leopards had made me an offer it was one of the clubs that I had my eye on," he said. “I’ve followed Tom’s journey at Leigh, and I spoke to him before I signed. He told me how good it was at Leigh and made me want to take that step. Playing under Adrian Lam was another big factor in my decision."

| Speed and youth certainly seems to be a focus for 2025 with the latest signing Alec Tuitavake fitting that exact mood.
As the next phase of the 5 year plan I like the direction.
We will need to give the team 4-6 games to set as the younger players settle in, but it bodes well for the second half of the season and then beyond.

| I agree VL. I suspect it was the plan but it has been brought forward at greater speed by the number of high profile departures, some of whom were clearly unexpected.
I also like the way that we are going but I am worried that it may take quite a bit longer than 4-6 games for the team to come together. The squad is undergoing a major overhaul, more than the club intended, and one key position at half back is still unfilled - less than 2 months away from the start of the new season. For this reason I am worried at this stage that it could be a season of pain and mid-table mediocrity.
My mood could very easily be lifted by further signing announcements but at this point optimism is in short supply. I just think that without evidence to the contrary that we all have to be a little realistic and and rein in expectation but hope that we will all be pleasantly surprised.

Mid table mediocrity? There's only 12 teams in the competition. 'Mid table' is top 6!

| Jeez there is a few half full glasses on this thread, top 6 and top 8 aims? The squad will be at max cap and maybe even 3 marque players anything outside the top 6 is a disaster. You dont attract people like Davey Armstrong to finish 8th.. hes a game changer at the highest level. Most of the signings are young hungry players who are determined to get back to the NRL just like Kai and Tom. Pre season trip to Lanza will get the squad settled with targets set and those targets defo wont be mid table. The added speed in the team will be our biggest game changer in 2025. Strap yourselves in its going to be a good one!!

I hope you're right, but there will be a number of clubs with max cap and 3 marquee contracts, it doesn't guarantee anything. We have 5 players moving over from Australia, and without the luxury of developing for one season in the second tier like Amone and O'Donnell had.
A lot will depend on how good the new forwards are, because we've lost a lot of quality in the pack, and how quickly the new players settle and gel.
If 2025 proves to be a year of transition, and we secure the retentions that we want to, I'd be more than willing to cut them some slack.

Depends on the next few Signings for me as it stands we are definitely short in a few areas specifically halfback and back row.
