We now have 20 contracted players for this season.



The Club has announced an innovative shirt sponsorship deal, whereby 25 businesses/individuals are contributing £1k each, to sponsor a squad member's shirt. (i.e. squad numbers 1-25) I know we have 4 DC's to come in but they, according to the RFL, cannot have a squad number between 1 and 25.



I appreciate how tight finances are, but wonder if there are any plans to fill shirts 21-25?

I would hope we at least sign a Loose Forward and hopefully another winger (campbell?) Don't know who we could sign as a Loose though. Has Zeb Luisi re-signed for Barrow yet? Or maybe Millward has an Aussie/Kiwi lined up for us.

If we got Govin & Campbell signed then LF is covered & Mick can play various positions so he'd be a great utility player to have & Campbell could cover wing/centre well. It's ashame with Blackpool folding but we can take advantage & look at signing 1 or 2 of them with the likes of Hemingway coming back hopefully

Has Govin ever played at Loose Forward? Only place I could see him in the pack would possibly be at Hooker. Anywhere else he would just be too small surely? I always thought of him as a half back, isn't that where he played at Leigh, Fax, Haven and Batley?

I watched a Thursday night game, Fax at home. Govin played at 13 in that game. I think he played several times for them in that position.

Personally I wouldn't want him to be our 1st choice 13. I just don't think he's big enough or sound enough defensively to warrant a 1st team spot in the middle of the pitch. Not with quality back rowers like Taylor/Goulden/Littler at the club and a lot of promise in Hopkins. Wouldn't mind him as a signing but if we were starting a season with Govin as 13 I would be wary. Back up for the halves IMO. Be cheaper than Hartley and even Mick can't have a worse season, injury wise, than Tim did last year.

Govin can & has played at 6,9 & 13 plenty enough hence why I said he is a good utility player

Leigh have withdrawn an offer made to Campbell due to uncertainty of his ongoing off field issue.

Govin would do for me, other than him having some injury problems in the past I can't see an issue.



He's less than a risk than Hartley was thats for sure.

Nice to get a youngster from St George to stay over after the WCC for a season

a winger would be good if its true that we aint going for Campbell anymore

Pace and penetration were problems last season, in my opinion. We don't seem to have done a lot to address those problems yet.

There'll be some Crusaders players looking for anything they can get shortly.



Apparently as well as the winding up order, Leighton Samuels as served a writ on the Crusdaers for £360,000 as well.

Seems season after next Wakey are probably staying where they are and just 1 combined Championship League.

Far too Injury Prone, A very very good player but you cant take the risk without someone else to cover. Thats why we replaced him and let him go, we needed someone who was less a risk of injury.

why is everyone jumping on the Govin bandwagon, he is injured regularly and I would have thought millward would have learnt lessons from Hartley this season. In his last spell he was also involved in off field incidents as well do we really need that?!! just because they are from or brought up in Leigh doesn’t mean it will be good for the club! just look at jimmy t he has made a living at Leigh for being a local lad lacks ability ball in hand, strength and pace but has a good tackle on him now and again.

jimmy isnt the best going forward, he tackles for 2 players! im sure pre season he will work on his weaknesses

hes had the same weaknesses since 2005! he hasnt improved much if any since then.

Must admit I feel we lacked pace last year and it showed when it mattered, havn't seen the youngsters at Leigh for a long time have we anyone in the area / at the club worth looking at ?



I'm presumbing we will be running with the Duals again or has nothing been said.
