You're getting plenty of practice mind - we had him last week too! I have to admit, I thought he had a good game at Fev.

Yes Thomason did have a good game and for me got the majority of the big calls right. You can not ask for more.



The one he did get wrong though was the knock on against Penky at the rear of the scrum late in the second half. Never in the memory of mon was that a knock on but that's the only one that springs to mind.



I do like Thomason as a ref. I think he has a bright future ahead of him.

TBH I dont think last Sundays game was Matts best, he is usually consistent and is one of if not the best Championship ref.

Chris Leatherbarrow seems to have leapfrogged him in the RFL's pecking order!

Chris Leatherbarrow has jumped in front of Matt Thomason because he lets the game flow, in a recent game at the Village - Swinton v. Doncaster Chris awarded only one penalty. Had two televised games in succession afterwards followed by a Super League game Wakefield v Saints I think it was.

Thomason's performances always include a heavy penalty count. He dropped a few clangers at Featherstone, a bad obstruction on Gardener (first or second try) Gave knock on against Littler when their guy seemed to stub the ball with his foot as Littler placed the all to 'play' (in front of Leigh fans) Gave 'ball gone backwards' when the fullback obviously knocked on following a bomb. There was the Penky knock on and Club officials were talking about an 'elbow' that went unnoticed by Thomason, and me too come to that, did anybody see a dangerous elbow - on McNally Im led to believe
