I couldn’t believe Thaler’s VR interpretation of that knock-on. The ball may have been behind the player, but the ball went forward just like the player did. It’s rare that the VR overrules the referee without firm visible proof.
The answer is in your first sentence. Thaler loves to be centre of attention a lot. I said at the time the players forward momentum in jumping for the ball should not count, how Thaler could say that ball went backwards was laughable.
