| A very entertaining match indeed, despite the rain and the mud. Interviews at the and are also fascinating: when was the last time a club chairman was asked to comment ( at some length ) about a match afterwards?

| I can still see myself in The Postern Gate, a few hours later, GUTTED that we threw away a healthy lead.

| If only Cullen had put his hand closer to his body whilst laid out cold. Boyd in his pomp. Ropati to Johnson ...what a try.

| I don't know what amuses me more all these years on.
The "He's behind you!" moment ( well it was panto season ) of Cull launching himself at Goodway or Tony Barrow's open-mouthed astonishment followed by Mariah Carey esque strop of disbelief on the sideline as it happened.
I don't recall my reaction at the time. Safe to say I was probably still sedated from Newcastle Brown abuse a few hours before, but on that day, in that match normality seemed to have had a lie in.
And what fun it was.

| I wonder what this rlfans forum would have looked like, if it had been around after that game
lefty telling us we were too nice, and wouldn't start challenging Wigan until we learned how to close out games
rubber duckie telling us Martin Crompton would be great but he can't play behind a beaten pack, and if we brought in some props we would win the lot
old timers reminiscing about new years day games in the 1950s when the players used to come out on to the field blowing smoke finishing up their half time cigarette
Wires71 asking why we had failed to kick on from the 1986 Premiership win and allowed Andy Gregory to leave and asking is Tony Barrow really the man to take us forward and happy clappers saying go and support Wigan or Halifax then if all you care about is winning
KingKurt68 coming on to tell us about how Wire scum were responsible for starting the fights at Bank Quay station the week before
