Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com
Personally i love the irony that a video obviously posted by a Widnes fan to "try and get the steward done" actually appears to show that the steward did not act incorrectly. It appears that every one of those "blows" were aimed at the arm of the spectator to force them to let go of either the barrier or his colleague.
As regards the opinion of the Warrington stewards, as said before there is nothing wrong with what they do and its usually the security firms which is "responsible" for the heavyhandedness. Then again, thats why they are there....to go in and deal with situations when force is required.
As for acting without police permission.......it is perfectly normal for police at sporting events to take their lead from the club stewards.
