I'm puzzled for the sudden (well, over the last 2 seasons, anyway) love-in towards Ganson



For years, he was abused at Wilderspool/HJ, for being either bent or incompetant.

He's been abused on these pages for the 5 years I've been looking at them.

He's been abused by ALL on phone-ins, and even had sly digs at him by the people in the TV media

But in the last couple of seasons, it's been "ohh, we've got Ganson as ref, he's great"

Yes, he's improved/lost a TINY bit of his ego (still a lot more to go, though), but I'd love to be enlightened as to the love-in reasons. It's almost like we've become his best friend. He used to be Roland Browning to our Gripper Stebson, now we've become his social worker.



After all, we're yet to have the love-in for the Gallic Jasper Carrott lookalike, who's performances have improved 10000 fold in the last 18 months. Silverwood's (gradual, at times) improvement has gone largely unnoticed, too.



I just thank the Lord, we've got the group of referees we have now, and not some of the 'whoppers' we've had to endure, e.g.

Billy Thompson

Fred Lindop

Ronnie Campbell

Robin Whitfield

Colin Morris (would have been out of his depth reffing U9s)

The Connolly twins.

Watching the re-run of Sunday, has anyone noticed how Silverwood speaks out of the corner of his mouth?

I thought he was auditioning for the remake of Porridge, as Mr Mackay.

At one stage, I thought he was going to start shouting "Fletcher, Godber pack that in"

i was worried Russell Smith might make a comeback and do us again like in 1994
