| I don't remember any anti-Gleeson hate while he was still a player with us, if you go back to Gleeson's final season in 2008, supposedly four full years after he "didn't want to be here", most of the hate from Wire fans was directed towards Matt King and Michael Monaghan, there were fans on here who were saying they'd pay for their tickets to go back home, coming over here on big deals ripping off the fans...
When Gleeson was here, our fans thought he was great, remember we had probably the slowest starting winger in SL at the time in Fa'afili, who was up at the top of the try scoring charts every year, a lot of our own fans criticised him despite him scoring all those tries, calling him 'fairy feet', the usual line was "well ANYBODY could score a load outside Gleeson, he's just that good a centre". The discussion regarding his future here was never "should we get rid", it was "will we be able to keep him or will he go to the NRL". It was after he was gone, that all of this "he was no good anyway" talk started.
In fact if you went back to the 2008 World Cup, I reckon there would be a few posters on here who would be embarrassed about their opinions at the time, because I remember us talking about how Gleeson was England's best player, and how Tony Smith had been proven to be not the man for us, given how out of clueless he was picking guys like Paul Sykes.
