John Sutton

I believe his contract is up in 2011 at Souths, whether he will leave is another thing as he was a Souths junior.

He currently plays stand off at Souths but he`s also at home at 13 which is where we need to strengthen, he`s strong, hard to put down, has great handling skills and he will cause havoc to defences.

If we got any injuries to the half backs he could slot straight back in at 6, its handy to have players that can play more than one pivot position in this day and age.

I don't know him Rob, but how does he differ from Simon Grix? We are limited in overseas players we can have.

John Sutton is twice the player Grix is, even though I think Grix aint a bad player.

Overseas quota then??... makein room for hodgson as it is... never gonna happen.

I think Grix has a future as our long term 13, great defender good hands there know reason why he can't develop further under Smith.

Joe Westerman possibly?

John Sutton would improve our side, but can't see him coming to Super League as he still has designs on playing representative RL.

Westerman looked great a few years ago, but like many young British players doesn't look like fulfilling his early potential. Hopefully he might develop into the best British 13 since Scully, still got time on his side.

The one man we should have signed at 13 is Feleti Mateo, but he's already agreed to join NZ Warriors for next season. Being a Tongan he won't be concerned about losing out on rep selection, has amazing ball skills which allow him to play stand off equally as well, and prior SL experience while on loan at London.

As it is I think we have a very competent loose forward in Simon Grix, so unless we can get anyone to improve the side considerably I'd be happy with him at loose forward for the forseeable future.

Mateo is a no-brainer. I am happy with Grix given the rest of the make up of the squad.
