Although mostly a forward he's played in the halves recently, his profile within the game is still fairly large and Saints have enough quality young players coming through to cover his departure.

For all we know the red herring could be the player doesn't exist and it's simply marketing propaganda to encourage more people to commit earlier to buying a season ticket. Didn't I read somewhere recently that the club are 25% down on season ticket sales compared to this time last year?

I'm of the opinion that Campese's agent is trying to get other clubs biting.

On the other hand, if a (accepted great) player is so injured and coming to the end of his career, and signs for Salford to conclude that career; I would expect more than just him going through his paces. He would have the stigma of being here for an easy cheque and would need every game to prove otherwise.

If the Campese deal does happen then surely one of him or Chase would be playing hooker?

Perhaps Harris thinks Campese could adapt to the hooker role like Michael Monaghan did at Warrington?

Barker now reporting the same thing, it sounds like this could have legs unlike Campese.



Hopefully he is just jumping on the earlier SMH article and there is nothing more in this story. If Campese was to come over, he must be ear marked for loose-forward. There is not a chance in hell Harris will mess with the Dobson/Chase partnership. I imagine he'll be cheap too, as Canberra would be paying the majority of his salary.

All these new signings ! getting a big squad is good, but, how do they all get regular football ? difficult keeping them all happy

My Guess is the Dr will be asking Harris to adopt the NFL Tactics , not the NRL ,

ie a Team of 13 for attacking , and another team of 13 for defending, If he can get to Squad no 39 , they'll be a special 6th Tackle punt team as well.
