Am I right in thinking that the appeal committee can decide to increase the length of the ban if they consider the appeal unjustified?

I hope so... I hope they double it just for the sheer cheek of him lodging an appeal when he was let off lightly in the first place

Don't talk soft. It was a horrific challenge for which he has rightly been banned and for which he has apologised. I think the maximum ban he could have got for the charge he received was 5 games so I think the RFL have given him 4 plus the 77 minutes he missed anyway.

What did Brandon Costin get banned for when he cleaned out Long that time? That was a worse one for me.
