| Well, I live in Baguley which is 2 miles from Sale. I'm probably the closest one I can think of.
A bit like Salford being full of United fans, anyone who's been to Sale will know it's the same. I went in a pub for a quiet pint on the day of the Super League Grand Final in 2010 before I went to the game. I thought "we're in Sale, we'll get the metrolink to Old Trafford and have a quiet pint first" - the pub was rammed full of United fans watching the game. If you go in a pub called The Brook near Brooklands station in Sale you'll see a few bits of Sale memorabilia, the same with The Little B. Other than that, Sale is just in the name really. It's a shame. But then when the original move to Stockport happened I imagine the locals were in a similar situation. Sale to Stockport isn't easy on public transport.
That's probably why they think they can move us around so easily. There's a few of us who like to maintain the tradition and don't want to ever change our name or lose the roots from Sale FC. But the club don't really care about history.

| Quote LoyalFan="LoyalFan"I couldn't give two hoots if Sale move in to be honest.... If the RL product is strong enough it will stand on it's own... if it's not... it won't.
The only thing that will destroy Salford RLFC is Salford RLFC and the people that run it... Not Sale.
I'm pretty sure people wouldn't be so worked up and upset about Sale if this club was in a healthy position and we were all confident about where we are heading. Fact is... we've been poorly run for years and people are finally starting to panic a little... and seeing Sale as a threat.
The people at the top of the club won't be worried either due to the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude.'"
Have to agree with LF unfortunatley at salford the people in key positons at the club dont make the right decitions / show the right leadership / ambition to take us to the next level, i do feel sorry for the people who actually do the work its a uphill battle every day.
People are worried about sale coming and taking over, what they are taking over exactly id like to know, they wont own the stadium, from what i see they are mid table at present and have a quite important month, flop and they will be down near the bottom they arnt the sale of a few years ago most of their "stars" have gone they are a team in transformaton at present and we have seen so many faulse dawns who is to say sale wont do the same.
I did see on Granada tonight sale would play at barton "if the price was right" which is a bit cheeky imo, the stadium was built for the people of the city of salford to enjoy and the facilities with the help of the council if sale arnt willing to pay "full rent" as they arnt salford in anyway and wont bring anything to the city then they know were stockport is stay there where the majority of their support comes from.
Living in sale i can say ive seen more salford shirts than ive seen Sale shirts, ive not met anyone who goes to games yet or seen any presence at all in the town which reaily suprised me apart from The Brooklands pub and the Little bee which both have Sale Memoria in so for me its fair game to advertise our games in local chippys / shops if Sale do end up moving to salford in the future.
We will see i surpose but it does mean EVERYONE involved at salford city reds both players, staff and fans will need to up their game if we are to keep Sale honest and in their place

I agree with much of what you say, although I won't say Wilky's lining his own pockets because I got dumped as teenager, but he clearly isn't setting our managers the right targets/agendas. I might not be losing hope if someone came out and said we'll improve the speed of our defensive line, then we'll start coming from deep and hitting the ball at pace.
Over the years we've got by on some good attacking play in the backs, but in nearly twenty years the closest we've come to competing over the course of a season is 97 and 06. Both seasons our form tailed off, and were followed by poor seasons after that. Granted injuries played their part. To be competitive, over an entire season, no team can rely on the backs alone. Certainly when you look at the team of 06, what they did well was drive the ball in at pace and get a quick play the ball. Exactly what Cas did to us last Saturday, and Les Cats in our last game at the Willows.
It's all about the pace we play at, there were time under Parish where the tempo of our play was good. If he wasn't barking mad maybe he'd still be in post, but he seemed to understand where the club was going wrong. Unfortunately, we'll never know if he was capable of taking the club forward.

Not surprised your eyes are shut to it. New supporters being able to buy loyalty points to stand a better chance of getting away tickets at the expense of those who've followed the club to the third division and back (and yes, I know for a fact it happened before you dispute it), loads of new supporters jumping on the city bandwagon due to the club's new found profile and success, only winning trophies because some sugar daddy has come along and thrown a shedload of cash at the club, opening a club shop in Abu Dhabi... You're going the same way as United, business first, football second. I know city season ticket holders who can see that as well, so don't try and just put it down to rivalry. I said the same about Chelsea, too.
Basically it shows everything that's wrong with modern football, the same as when it happened to Chelsea and the same as the way in which the Glazers were allowed to pillage United. No sporting club should be a rich man's plaything to do with as he pleases, living on the knife-edge of "what happens if they get bored or they lose all their money?" That goes for city, United, Barcelona, Salford, Sale or anybody else. Of course, the problem in this day and age is that the majority of people couldn't give a f**k as long as the promise of short-term success is there.

| I've had enough 'Final Straws' to make a Haystack. I'm currently not attending games, but I know I'll be back sooner or later.
I'm under no illusions though. Our Club is slowly dying before our eyes. We have a below average Team, a below average Coach and a pi** poor administration and management team. Above all that we have a Chairman with no money to invest. If you follow Salford, you know that you have to put up with so much sh*t it's unbelievable. But if it's in your blood, you just can't leave it alone.
Unfortunately for Salford though, today's 'customers', expect success, comfort, convenience and great value for money. Salford are poor at providing any of these. Just lots of excuses and false promises. I cannot see our fan base increasing greatly under these circumstances, in fact we are at risk of alienating even more fans who have being following the Club for years.
Will anything change..........NO!
Oh! and about the Sale thing, it was nice to hear a Sale fan's perspective. However, I can see no benefit to Salford whatsoever. It is simply another nail in our coffin.......or another 'Final Straw!'

| I would like to applaud both above posters for sense.
However I would like to disagree with:
"the stadium was built for the people of the city of salford to enjoy and the facilities with the help of the council"
It was built by Peel Holdings: Peel Holdings do nothing but for profit. If Sale can increase their profit, they'll be in. There are no sympathies in their business.
Our tenure is probably part of the original contract.
If someone suggested that it be demolished to build a super port facility with the atttraction of greater profits, we'd be looking for the Willows (deja vue).
We are there as long as we can pay rent and make a profit (financially or poliitically with Salford Council). Either run out: goodbye.
