Quote ="nick hkr"The wind blowing North was a major factor in todays win for Rovers. A game where kicking was paramount and while Holdsworth was on form with his he was struggling in the second half due to the strong winds.
Defences were on top but then both sides were missing key attacking players in Blake Green and Steffan Ratchford. I think both players would have made a massive difference today.
Thought Salfords decision to go with the wind behind them in the first half was the wrong choice because as daft as it sounds the second half when you are tired and need that help, running in to the wind is never going to help. Add to that having Michael Dobson attacking you with the wind at his back you are asking for trouble. It is surely easier to defend in the first half when you are fresh? (Think HKR proved this today).
The league positions before this game showed just how evenly matched these two teams are and I fully expected a close game that could go down to the wire.
With the weather conditions and two trips down the M62 in a week I think Salford have a lot to be positive about especially having Steffan back in a couple of rounds. Maybe this season is going to end after Rd 27 but in all honestly that is likely for both clubs playing today.
Another plus point for Salford fans is the performance of Feka, he may not play great minutes but he is a powerhouse that always causes us problems. Difficult to put down and with a bit more support I think he'd have offloaded and created a couple of good ">chances.'"
A refreshing change to see such a post.

Got what i was expecting today, a team on the rebound from a poor performance and playing for a new coach... a bloody hard game. Didnt realise the wind was that strong, and was glad we had it in the second half. Thought we might go on to win it once we scored but couldnt see us scoring, was expecting the sucker punch after all the pressure we had. Nice to beat a decent team. eusa_clap.gif" alt="eusa_clap.gif" title="CLAP" />

| Some good improvements in defence, especially in the 1st half. 2nd half with the wind against us, combined with too many errors and penalties, meant we were defending too much and tired. Didn't help that we were missing Gibson, Gleeson and Ratchford and Wild has only just returned from injury. Sneyd showed some nice touches, Williams looks very promising and Neal was excellent especially considering he played the full 80 when he's only been playing around 20 mins or so lately.
In attack we are still far too predictable. The forwards are stepping up but the half backs just aren't doing it for me. Holdsworth ran the ball once in the whole game and Smith only took one tackle. If your halfbacks never run the ball then the defence know that he is going to pass and just line up the receiver, which in our case is obvious. This is why Webster did several hits on one of our players when coming in behind the line. I know people will moan at me for saying this but I think Holdsworth should be dropped. Ratchford and Sneyd in the half backs and Smith interchanging for Godwin at hooker.
Overall though it was a much improved performance than Hull FC, but there is still a fair way to go.

| If we'd have gone in 14-0 up at half time I reckon we'd have won. Bombed two tries with the try disallowed for crossing and Henry catching a high kick and only needing to fall over the line to score but deciding to pass. Decent performance though, just didn't keep KR pinned downed enough in the first half like they did to us in the second half. Can file it alongside missed opportunity games such as Hull (home), Bradford (away) and Cas (home).
