Quote Gavin Miller - Legend="Gavin Miller - Legend"On a drier pitch it would have been a bigger margin for Rovers id say mate.
Your forwards got out muscled by a prop quartet of 2 players in their early 20's, a teenager and Vella easing his way back from ">injury.'"
Totally agree with the above post i think the score somewhat flattered us and as you rightly say could of easily been more if some of the hkr passes had of stuck. In regards to silverwood he had nothing to do with their territory it was salford that conceded some daft penalties our pack was ineffective and our backs were shocking the kicking game was also awful. I also think that holdsworth has looked better at halfback jeremy smith added a bit of dimension when he went on at hooker... There are some positives to be taken out of the game though and ironically i think we could of done with littler because in hindsight i dont think kr would of scored them first two tries if he were there as he would of been pushing broughton wider instead of him leavin fox with a ten metre gap to run through

Quote Bigpev="Bigpev"No I actually gave the description, the "momentum rule" is an invention of Sky.....'"
Actually BigPev, not so - From Note 1 "Direction of Pass" in Section 10 "Knock-On and Foward Pass" of the Rugby Laws Book from the RFL website:
Direction of Pass 1. The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running
towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards
a colleague who is behind him but because of the thrower’s
own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the
ground. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not
passed the ball forward in relation to himself. This is
particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high,
lobbed pass.
I hate to spoil a good argument with facts! icon_cheers.gif" alt="icon_cheers.gif" title="CHEERS" />

| Thinking back to the game on sunday i thought we were competative throughtout, the only three problems we had were our 1st 10 minutes Hull KR came out fast ( as i expected them to do with our youthful team) and blew us out of the water, i dont think we could have done anything about it and im sure they will learn from the experience.
My second problem would be our left hand side defence, Broughton was caughtout twice coming in and leaving his opposite number open to score easy tries, is it a communicaton thing? is it a confidence thing? i dunno, after a while it seemed that side of the field got organised and we looked a little better but when leaned on we caved in on that side of the field a bit too easy, its till early door and im sure they try and solve the problem this week.
I dont think you can do anthing about the game breaking try rebounding of Sibbits head straight into the arms of a hull Kr player to score, some you win some you dont in that respect.
I also thought Mcrae left alker on the field for too long during the game all the pre-season matches he has given him 20 minutes then smith has come on a started pulling the strings for 40 mins , soon as the real season starts he keeps Alker on for 30 mins then gives Smith a cameo role of 10 mins eather side of half time??
The positives i think were the way the players kept going it would have been easy to cave in and get smashed by 40+ point but give them credit they battled on and got stuck in, 1st game of the season enthusiam was there for all to see lets hope it continues though the season.
Individually i thought M Smith did very well, The Wizard had some nice touches and Fitzy looked good as well as the usual "8/10ers" again but its a team game so without everyone pulling their weight they arnt able to work the magic.

| Even Old Walrus Chops himself agreed that Salford didn't deserve to win , but he did take some positives out of the game.
Big game against Crusaders coming up for both teams , particularly after last seasons final positions.

| Having watched the tries on SLTV there were a few "iffy" passes on a number of occasions.
I'm not bitter though, these kinds of 50/50 decisions sometimes go for you, some against. On this occasion it went against us. Most line-breaking passes run this fine line of being called forward, it's what makes them line-breaking. On a luckier day they may have been called (Rightly or wrongly)
I'm sure we will have a few ourselves over the course of a season.
