Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. | Quote ="roversmad"Course you can IIRC they were bottom for all but a couple of weeks'"
They may well have been, but they won 7 games.
We will never do this on present form.
They also have a good coach although most of the Cas fans appear not to think this.
They get better crowds so can pay more to players and hence get a better standard.
Overall you can not compare the two clubs.

Quote ="GT"And how many football clubs who chop and change their managers constantly find success? Look at city, they've had a revolving door on the managers office for a while and the lack of stability has brought them nothing. Compare and contrast with United, they stuck with Ferguson even though results were crap, the club was going nowhere and the fans were calling for his head. That stability behind the scenes, the patience from the board and giving his plans time to settle and work paid dividends.
Sacking the manager/coach isn't always the golden answer it first seems. We sacked Harrison and nothing changed - in fact, it became quite clear at the end of that season that it was down to the players. Would getting rid of McRae be any different? I doubt it. Not to mention there's not really anyone out there who could/would be willing to come in and change things for the ">better.'"
Having watched Salford since 1946 some of the contributors do worry me with what they are expecting from the club this season, just look at the facts-
(1)Most clubs this season, if not all of them have several hundred thousand pounds extra on their salary cap than we do.
(2)The coach can only spend the amount of money within the salary cap, so expecting SM to get the same with our cap as say HKR, Hull, Bradford, Catalans etc do with theirs is simply not on.
(3)Shaun McRae has a longish contract that, if he is still in the position should -
(a) Take us into the new stadium.
(b) Hopefully improve our performances and consequently our attendances.
(c)Keep us in Superleague.
I personally would have liked to have retained Karl Harrison but the club decided not to.
I personally feel that Shaun McRae has made some strange decisions that as a supporter I cannot understand but Karl Harrison did the same.
I also feel that some supporters whilst being free to express their feelings over the recent results go well over the limit in what they expect to happen and some also make themselves foolish in the way that they criticize the club, the directors, the players and the coaching and occassionally the admin staff.
The players or some players have made a rod for their own backs with what happened or did not happen in Florida and if I were the chairman I would not be a happy chappie to have paid out all that money only to be made to look foolish.
I missed the Saints and Wigan games through holidays but when I returned the different views that I heard from several fans was confusing, for example-
Why do we play people out of position(in the Wigan game) ? upon reading the press and listening to comments from the club I find that White, McGilvary and Wilshire are injured.
Some felt that Fitzpatrick had a poor game, some felt that he had a good game.
Some felt that we made Wigan look a better side than they were, others thought that Wigan played well.
As society does nowadays, someone has to be the scapegoat and take the blame and at Salford we are no different with some supporters thinking that it is fashionable to slag off certain people at the club if things are not going as well as they can be.
What will I do? I will still support the club through bad times as well as good, if the club decides to relieve Shaun McRae of his duties I will still support the club, if they keep faith in him I will still support them.
I will not boo the players, insult their family or friends and I will continue to support the club in their efforts to improve things.

| Original Salford City Red - thank you for some sanity on here.
The hysterical stuff that some folk are coming out with, the personal abuse thrown at players, coaches and directors is totally over the top and gets nobody anywhere.
The club has to live within its means or there won't be a club!
Yes the results are disappointing and we all want better but it jus can't happen overnight, and yes I'm worried whether we will (can?) improve, but ranting won't help! Not sure what will, but like you the team will continue to have my support.
