In Australian Rugby Union these days, only New Zealand are a really big draw (just as NZ are in RL). Brisbane will draw 45K against a top tier nation, like Ireland and SA this year. Just as Brisbane can draw that many for a RL test. Stadium Australia only attracted 48K for England test this year, 42K for France last year. Italy only drew 20K and 22K last year to Canberra and Melbourne respectively.



The tabloid and FTA media paints these doom and gloom stories every year, but RL tests capitalise on that hype, and attract walk up crowds on the day. This should attract 15K, and that would be a decent result.

well the soft Sydneysiders let a bit of rain give them the excuse to stay on their sofas again. 11K crowd and most of them seemed to go home after the Samoa game. Was that the lowest crowd for a Kangaroos game in the "heart" of Australian RL?

Rugby League is the bigger code in Australia......yet less than 12,000 turn up to watch an international game played in an area with 9 NRL teams.........and you are the current 4 nations champions.



Rugby League is the weaker code in New Zealand....yet over 20,000 turn up to watch an international match played in an area with no professional RL team.



As I said old dear.......I am involved in marketing and the people responsible for the marketing of the double header on Sunday should be fired. I believe more then 12,000 turned up for the double header at Mt Smart last week......and they were warm up games.....

The attendance at the Australia v PNG/Tonga v Samoa games was a disgrace.....no matter what type of spin some will try to put on it.

Sydneysiders have shown before that they are NRL/Origin fans rather than RL fans. Brisbane or Townsville would have got a better crowd than that.
