Think you can delete Briscoe on the "man for man" if you look at Briscoe/Wellens stats you will find Wellens performance figures are a massive 50% better than Briscoe. and this is with Wellens dodgy knee.



I suppose Briscoe can run the ball up quicker...but thats about all.

That is if you don't want a fair comparison of the stats for this season so far, which will reveal a completely different story in many of the most important stats, such as tries scored, metres per carry, clean breaks missed tackles and errors.



Wellens has better stats for offloads, tackle busts and try assists.



All that and Briscoe is quicker as well you say? It's no contest is it?

Think you need to add metres gained, tackles and tries in favour of wellens as well.



If speed is the criteria above anything else, then Penny is a shoe in for england wing selection.

Sadly Briscoe is not international class.

Wello isnt upto it these days at international level, however he is still light years ahead of Briscoe, who is a brave player but lacking in anything else.

Unfortunately, we don't have an international class fullback in this country, and I can't remember that last time we did. All the best in SL are antipodean and that doesn't look like changing in the near future. Until the general attitude to how a fullback should play changes throughout the game here, we're going to be a long way behind in this position.

Agreed! Wellens is the best British FB in SL by some distance and that sadly says it all about our current situation.

On a side note i like Briscoe his a tryer but he was awfull tonight. Wellens doesent make that many mistakes in a aseason. Let alone one game.

Nope. Prescott, possibly, but certainly not Briscoe. Prescott's last season was 2003, so I'd say 6 years minimum that we've been without an international class fullback in the country and, even then, he didn't get a chance on the big stage.

I would say radlinski steadman and hampson have been the only decent ones in recent history. This has always been our weakest position in terms of depth and quality in britain

Are you kidding?! I lost count of the try-saving tackles Briscoe made last night, and you're judging him on one knock on where the replays showed there was a huddersfield hand on the ball?!

He made a few. He also made a few mistakes, at least one of which lead to a try. No big deal - that happens.



Briscoe is a very good FB. Just not as good as some people make out. Still probably the 2nd best British FB though.
