Note that it's a 3 month testimonial, rather than a full year, thus recognising the distinction between long and distinguished playing career versus single club loyalty (on top of a long and distinguished playing career).



As has been said, if you don't think he deserves any recognition, then don't contribute. Simple as that.

Players who put in 10 years at one club get a 12 month testimonial. Other players who have given an excellent contribution to the game over a long period can get awarded a 3 month one. Morley has excelled at a high level both here and down under and in international RL year in year out for 15 years. Can't think of many more deserving!

Seen as no-one has said he doesn't deserve it I think a piping down maybe an option for some! Personally glad he's got one for the reason I initially stated!



David March (think it was that onr) also had one this year IIRC based on service to RL and 4 clubs.

Don't see what the big deal is. Its merely an acknowledgement of being a top player for a long time and his contribution to the sport. Its only 3 months and no-one has to be involved if they don't want to. As mentioned other players have had similar testimonials, Peacock had one a year or so ago as well.

Lee Radford's in the middle of his now as well for service to the game not to one club.

Exactly. Both well deserved in my opinion.

I can understand why people are unmoved - testimonials seem to get handed out like A levels thesedays and as a result, they are generally devalued.

Morley deserves a testimonial as he is the first england player to reach 50 caps and has been a fantastic servant to RL

Benny will get a full 12 months as he completes 10 years service next season.

There's nothing to stop you calling it whatever you want! But for many reasons (not least tax) a testimonial is a very specific arrangement, and in itself is not an "award", or a cash payment, or anything else. It is effectively a permission to have a fund-raising events period. But I think you must surely know this, so are just being obtuse.

I seem to remeber a few years ago thinking the same thing when another player had not been with the same club for 10 years + but was told you can qualify for a testimonial if you have played so many pro games (400 IIRC)

But the idea of a testimonial is to reward the effort and loyalty towards a club. Morley hasn't done the loyalty part with any of the clubs he's been at as he's moved twice.



I wonder what part the RFL plays in this though, because if they are doing it for Mozza, they'll have to do it for every other international player I would say.

TBF, the idea of a testimonial for 'loyalty' is a nonsense in my eyes.



Leeds have had a fair few testimonials recently, however if they were playing for a 'poor club' and they were offered more money and better opportunities, they would go.



Loyalty is playing for a club for free at a weekend, not getting employed by a club for a certain number of years.



Why does Jon Clarke for example deserve a testimonial simoply because he has been a solid player at Warrington, when Morley has been a brilliant player on both sides of the world, and has represeted his country a record number of times.



Some players never ever get the chance of showing loyalty as they are shafted by their club/coach, so testimonials for loyalty to a club are IMHO flawed.

Clarky deserved his testimonial, as does Moz. As regards your last sentence the name that springs to mind staightaway is Tommy Martyn. He was seriously shafted.

A great servant to the game who has played at the highest level for roughly 15 years,well deserved and yes Tommy God got well and truly shafted,without a doubt.
