Yep. I'm perfectly willing to accept mistakes from on-field refs in the heat of the moment with only 1 viewpoint. I'm also willing to accept a "mistake" from a video ref if the video is inconclusive or ball cant be seen and he uses "benefit of the doubt". In this case, the video ref got it wrong with conclusive and obvious video evidence.

That is not acceptable with full time referees. Stuart Cummins should consider his position as this is not an isolated incident and there has been no discernible improvement in on-field refs consistency and in the accuracy of video ref decisions.

No but the turning point in the game - a crying shame our fantastic game is being made a laughing stock by incompetent match officials. I could see it straight off from the 20m line it was never a try let alone Smith looking at it umpteen times on a TV monitor. What a farce. Standard of refereeing is just abysmal - hardly a game goes by without some contentious decisions - but having a video ref and he getting it so wrong is just criminal.

It did affect the game somewhat but I get the feeling its made it a 26 point win for Saints, rather than a 12 point one (ish). Crusaders had put in a heck of an effort and it told late on, they were bushed.

I think we have had the three worst video-referee decisions since it's introduction this year:
Early in season Leeds Rhinos given 'try' (was it JJB?) - even he got up and shook his head!
Then the Liam Watts given 'try' at Castleford.
Now the Roby 'try'.
These are not cases where there is an argument both ways, or that depend on the interpretation of a rule. They are all simply and clearly wrong when looked at within the rules of the game.

Its amazing what biterness success causes. Emmitts "No Try" and Robys try evened themselves out. Both were unclear, to the letter of the law both should have been given benefit of the doubt.
