| I was at the 4-104 game at Rochdale when Keighley beat Highfield.
We had to win the game to win the league!!!!!
I never thought I'd see that score so emphatically beaten.
Must have been an awful long trip home if you were a Gateshead fan.

In all fairness They were in good spirits and Clapped them off..
The only first teamers in there were the Hooker and a prop. Everyone else had squad numbers over 14..
Blackpool Unlucky not to score more in my opinion

| Tom Hemmingway is way way too good for the 3rd tier of British Rugby. Is he at Blackpool on loan? I know he was at Huddersfield when Leigh loaned him last year.

| Hemingway is, I believe, a Blackpool asset.
To answer a few other po9ints raised:
Gateshead did have a few more than 2 first teamers in, just because their squad number is over 13 doesn't mean they ain't first teamers - for example in the Panthers squad most weeks are Neil Holland (34), Danny Halliwell (27), Paul Anderson (15), Paul Ballard (24) Martin Ainscough (1icon_cool.gif.
The pre match preview was that they had 4 suspended and 3 injured. A significant number certainly, but we were missing 8 of our first 17 at Leeds last week, it happens.
Martin Crompton simply had us treat them no differently than any other side we'd face this season. Apart from a slack 5-10 minutes after the first two tries, there was pretty much no let up. On the odd occasion that Thunder did have possession they were often forced into making mistakes which were then punished.
Have to say I felt for Gateshead, I really did, as their players never chucked the towel in, they were simply just completely outpaced and outclassed.
It's not nice being in a position like that but RL can be a brutal sport, ask any Blackpool fan who watched Greg Austin score 9 tries in Huddersfield's 142-4 win over the Gladiators in 1994. We did have the chances in the last 10 minutes to have erased that from the record books, but it wasn't to be.
One other minor point for the stattos, Kurt Haggerty did record a hat trick, I think one of his tries was wrongly credited to Paul Ballard, but that needs confirming. EDIT - confirmed - Haggerty's third try was wrongly credited to Ballard. Easy mistake to make as Ballard got over the line but then passed to Haggerty to complete his hat trick (at 17 mins).
The players who didn't score were Carl Forber, Andy Hobson and Kris Ratcliffe.
Tom Hemingway's 48 points (1 try, 22 conversions (out of 22)), must I suspect, be close to a record for a league game. Although many of his 2nd half kicks were relatively straightforward, he did pot 5 or 6 from wide out in the first half.

| hemingway came through the giants youth system and was a super league squad member for 4 seasons before being released last year,a decent player i thought never really got a chance for us though, good on the lad though.
i was at that 142-4 game seagull and i'll tell you now the biggest cheers of the day in order were:
blackpool scoring
fartown notching 100
fartown notching 50

Hemingway has been a very good signing for us, he fits in well with what we try to do and his kicking game is very impressive.
His goalkicking yesterday was remarkable, especially in the first half as many were wide out on his wrong (right hand) side. Not only was he potting them but most went pretty much over the black dot, he was completely "in the zone", his rhythm was quite sublime to watch.
The funny thing is he's not always been first choice kicker this season as we have 4 to choose from (Jonny Leather, Carl Forber and Josh Charnley being the others), but he looked world class in the first half yesterday.
