| A weird one and worrying for Wakey fans as he played Saturday.
He could be the first of a few leaving and I feel for their fans as we were there a few months back where your players were not secured and were liable to go to anybody that met their wage.
I don't think he'll pull up any trees for FC as he didn't at Wakey and it is a panic buy.
One good thing to come out of it is at least we keep Sammut.

| Somehow think that Hull would rather have Sammut but Obst isn't exactly poor either, think he'll fit in well there and give them an extra option.

| Seems to me, They have failed to Lure Sammut, And taken Obst on the cheap due to Wakefields demise.

It's a RL transfer on a RL board. The relevance of your post is......?
Regards to Obst I think it would have being a good stop gap for Hull on a 1 yr deal whilst they look into signing somebody a little better. Two year deal for Obst seems a little bit on the panic side.

there would have been little incentive for Obst to move for just a 1 year deal.
is it the signing a fan dreams about? no, but he is the best of the available options.

Seems the FC board don't think they are, while he is not a bad player a 2yr deal for a 31 yr old player who seems not to have a defined position is not 'big club' thinking.

| I actually think it's a decent signing for Hull. They'll have starting halves of Horne & Long, with either Obst as backup or coming off the bench and possibly going into dummy half where he can be dangerous.
Is he a massive signing? No
Does he provide useful strength in depth to Hull? Yep
Is he a better half back than Jordan Turner? Absolutely.

Not sure why but I keep thinking about another stop gap signing, Chris Thorman.

True, but he was made a scapegoat during a poor Hull season and he was never the same after being moved from stand-off to full back at Hudds. Plus he's a very different style of player to Obst and unlike Obst who has been brought in as halfback cover plus useful at hooker, Thorman was signed as a 1st choice stand-off.
If Obst had been signed as a first choice halfback at Hull it would be a poor signing, since he's cover for Horne, Long & Houghton I think it's a decent signing. Especially considering who would be available at this point.

| Was watching Obst last time Wakey came to the Willows, he controls his pack really well and always thought he looks quite lively. I think he's quite an under rated player. Have been more impressed with Obst in a Wakey shirt, than Smith in a Salford shirt!

| I'd say the fact that Obst doesn't have a defined position probably makes it an ideal signing considering Horne's inability to string together 4 or 5 games. Obst will provide ample cover whether at hooker or in the halves

| Good signing as cover.
If they were signing him as first choice, then I wouldn't say so, but he won't be in the 17 every week at Hull so I think they've made a shrewd acquisition.

You're obviously forgetting that our back up half (a young kid by the name of Danny Nicklas, who also came through our academy by the way) has been ruled out for the season with a serious knee ligament injury.
In the last 2 weeks we've lost our back up 6 in Nicklas and our back up 7 in Tansey/shane mcgowan. We needed back up and quick Obst can do this plus his main role will be to rotate with Houghton at 9.
Name me one other player AVAILABLE that can give us this!
