Wigan and Hull and Leeds also have good players coming through, Saints fans just bang on about it more. Youngsters at saints often look better coming into that sort of team because they are around great players.



Lomax is a great talent, I have played against him, he is brilliant, future England captain.

You are right there are plenty of other highly talented youngsters, just that Saints of late seem to have brought them through better and improved their games



Lomax performance tonight on the wing was outstanding for one so young, especially considering he in infact normally a half back. Though i suspect he will replace Wello at fullback within 2 years.

They have not brought them through better, not having a dig at saints by saying that but any young player coming into a world class team like is going to find it easier than someone coming into and inconsistant team like ours. They are talented young players don't get me wrong but they are coming into a better environment. Imagine Lomax on the wing for Celtic, would he shine then? No.

Could be worse - he could be coming through on the wing at Wigan not being coached to jump for a high ball.

Granted it does help to have a good team environment around them, however with good coaching those players can quickly reduce their weaknesses.



An example of good coaching can be seen at Quins. look how Brian Mcdermott has developed the footballing abilities of his players. Its hardly a star studded side, but cast offs from other clubs have gone there, and become good pros.

Lomax looks like the best of a very good bunch from what I have seen of them

Everyone gets coaching, but it might not be good coaching.

Certainly he came across on the TV as a Mungo. So its not outside the bounds of possibility that his learning ability is low.

Now, now. This is a Saints athon no one elses.

He is a talent though. IMO we should ease him into the team as a long term winger and just swap him and his centre for the kicks, I am sure Gleeson and Carmont are both more than able to catch. Ainscough in defence is actually quite good his tackling is pretty decent and he is very strong. Even if he lets in a try a game he will probably score 2.



It's better to win a game 38-36 then lose one 8-6.

The trio of Eastmond, Wheeler and Lomax are right up there with the best British kids I've seen in twenty plus years. I just hope they keep their feet on the ground and remain professional.



Watch out for the Rugger Buggers, tho. They're bankrupt talent-wise and are thus likely to tempt any RL player from average ability upwards.

Well done saints. Just shows that the 2 clubs will a business model of trying to devlop their own, ie, Leeds and Saints are head and shoulders above those with a model of trying to sign as many foreigners as possible, ie, wigan

I think the point was that even if your defence makes a few mistakes, a team that can amass points rapidly will always give themselves a chance.







I don't think this is entirely accurate.

All I've seen is a lot of kids, only Wheeler I'd say was any good (even then over hyped). Lomax I haven't seen. Eastmond is too all over the place.

Best youngster playing in the backs around at the minute in SL is Tom Briscoe!
