MadDogg:
It's a great get for Hull and I think the likelihood is Pryce will turn into a very good player but I wonder if expectations should be tempered a little bit.
He does have X factor, pace, a great step and good instincts but I still think there are question marks over his decision making and his defensive attributes. How much his name impacts how highly people rate him I'm not sure.
No doubt he'll come back to SL a better player than when he left but ultimately he didn't break through in the NRL and was hit and miss at Huddersfield.
To sum up - great potential, will likely be really good for Hull in the coming years but fans perhaps shouldn't be expecting him to be one of the competition's best right from the off.
I’d say it’s an exciting signing but I don’t think many sensible people are expecting him to be one of the competitions best right from the off. We don’t even know for sure where he fits in our ideal 17 this season yet, could be 1,6 or off the bench.
I think anyone with a bit of sense knows he’s far from the complete player. A lot of Newcastle fans felt he deserved more, but ultimately he only managed 6 first grade games last season so he’s got a way to go but TBF we’ve seen players with similar records light up SL.
Why I think a lot of us are getting a bit giddy is that before the season started I’d say pretty much every Hull fan was cautiously optimistic for a half decent season but everyone felt we lacked a bit of pace and someone with a bit of X factor to open a game up. Pryce fits that perfectly even if he is raw. We really lack that and to get it in a young English 6 is a huge bonus, I get what your saying with expectation but we also have a couple of decent young players halfbacks in Kemp and Charles who could potentially form a long term partnership with after Sezer, that also adds to the excitement.
