I'd say this season's shirt is closer to Cherry than Red personally.
I'd say part of it comes down to the manufacturers. The red tones have certainly been darker with Hummel/Errea as opposed to ISC & Kooga.

I actually liked the top kit (2010). And the bottom one looked great with the white shorts at the 2011 Magic Weekend. Looked bad with black though. Personal preference I suppose.
