Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

| I think more should be made of the hall of fame. Regual inductions for one thing. One or two every year at the man of steel awards for example. Have a short list like the NFL then it is a bit of an event and story.
People from the super league era who'll probably be in are Peacock, Sinfield, Farrell, Sculthope, Cunningham i would have thought

Quote Bullseye="Bullseye"The Immortals are 8 players thought to be the greatest ever by now defunct magazine Rugby League Week.

The Hall of Fame is open to players, coaches and referees. I'm not sure who decides the membership but they both have the same players in them apart from Joey Johns who hasn't made the Hall of Fame yet.
So a bit different to how you describe it Biff. They have an equivalent to the Hall of Fame and a longer list that includes non players.
As an aside who would be the British coaches in a Hall of Fame?
Referees?'"
Fair enough mate, i very much agree with you that there should be a place to put nothing but the very best, but don't think t would hurt the game to have an lower level place to put other fantastic players who may not hit that ceiling. Perhaps having a SL hall of fame would work?
Regards coaches in my time of watching i would go with John Monie, Dough Laughton, Brian Noble and Tony Smith in my time of watching british RL.A few others who would be close.

| Jiffy should be in before most of these named here. Sensational domestically, did the business in Australia and wasn't too shoddy at international level either.
One of the very very best all round backs in my living memory.

| I think a very high standard is just what should be maintained, so that we are looking at perhaps 3 players per decade. Of those mentioned above Clive Sullivan has a strong case. Not just a very good player and a World Cup winning captain whose individual brilliance helped get that cup but he is also made history as the first black captain of a British international side. Sometimes, OK often, we undersell RL and are the games biggest critics, but instances like this are something the sport can be rightly proud of. So, great player and historical icon, put him in!
Of the others discussed Andy Gregory certainly has a case, he was a much better player than Edwards, then again Tony Myler was, Schofield was (but he's in anyway) and Davies was but as pointed out doesn't qualify.

| IMHO the Hall of Fame should be directly linked to the RL Heritage Museum and a permanent display to honour the inductees, and their achievements, to educate people on the great RL heritage (and perhaps to remind people that RL existed before, and continues to exist outside, the boundary of Super League).
Unfortunately the Heritage Museum isn't due to open at its new home in Bradford until 2020, a somewhat sad reflection about how the game portrays itself and its former players.
