Welcome to the NEW RLFANS.COM. After twenty-five years of service, the old site expired over the last few days. To maintain service we have had no option but to make an early switch to the new site which was in development/testing. Some elements of the new site are unfinished, such as; page numbering and quotations. We will fix these minor issues as soon as we can, please bear with us. If you are having problems logging in, please try a different browser or platform, if problems persist then email support@rlfans.com

| Blimey. He likes it and lives in Canberra???
He must be resilient. Canberra is like a large farm with a parliament in it.

Quote ="Shifty Cat"What an odd sweeping statement to make. I've personally had 3 sets of Aunties & Uncles as well as 6 good friends move to Australia over the years. Of them the ones to return, which has been about half. It's been because they either miss family, especially when new ones are born, got a better job over here, or once the warm weather and beaches novelty wore off, they just preferred England. />
I've spent a fair bit of time In Australia over the years, plenty of my relatives are Aussies and I've never heard anyone say anything about 'pasty little people with an odd superiority complex'. Whinging Poms yes, which is pretty funny when it seems it's one of their favorite past times as well. Also I don't know anyone that's gone over that thinks they're special just because they're in the Colonies. I mean seriously who thinks that way.'" />
My wife has relatives in oz back in the 60s to 70s they went out their 4 or 5 of them after 2 yrs 2 came back and after a year went back again and with their breading their is now 25 to 30 of them with their kids getting married and having kids

Quote ="roopy"Yeah. That is a great example of the type of arrogance that has Australians somewhere between bewildered and bemused by poms.'" />
I've seen some beautiful places in Australia, but then I've seen some pretty beautiful places all over the world, and many of those places have a richer and deeper cultural history than mainstream Australia. Back in the day one of the attractions for some Australian players to sign for London Broncos was the culture they had access to, London has been a melting pot of cultures for over 2000 years, a few hours drive can take you to all kinds of interesting places in the UK, hop on a Eurostar or an Easyjet and you can be in Paris or Rome or Barcelona in a few hours. If I were a top class RL player I'd go to Australia for the challenge of the NRL and to make some money, the rest of it wears thin quickly. Obviously if it's what you're used to or you have personal attachments it's a bit different.

Next time I want to know what Australians think, I'll be sure to ask you.'" />
LOL Sorry I didn't realise you knew all Australians or for that matter all the English that have gone over there. Just giving you my experience and my families who live there. Sorry it doesn't fit with the crap you said.

Similar to my family mate. Two of my mums sisters and husbands went over when you could move for a tenner. My dads brother moved over in the late 70's but moved back because he got a better job. But with all the aunties, uncles, cousins and their kids I have, there's 23 currently over there.

Quote ="roopy"Poms who come to Australia have an odd expectation that being born in England will make them "special" in the colonies. />
Australians are either surprized or bewildered by that, and when poms learn that Australians think of them a pasty little people with an odd superiority complex, they head off back home.'" />
Top class generalising about both Poms and Aussies, there!
