What is very important to realise is no Dr K, no Salford RLFC. I cannot see any successor anywhere. So we die.
As for a new start: there is no appetite, outside fans, for thinking we could restart in the lower divisions/leagues. It's a football area. Salford fans are not wealthy. There are other issues. For instance, start with the query of where could we play as the AJ will be financially too expensive. I suppose we could absorb into Swinton's plans but, again, there would be opposition to that.
This is not asking for Salford to be treated as so special as it cannot be lost. Just that it is in existence because of him.'"
Clubs can and do continue without substantial director financing. They have some degree of success as well, via astute and sensible business plans being put in place by the club's board. This isn't enough to establish a top SL team, but without the bedrock of teams in the other two divisions (such as Swinton, surviving quite well on crowds of around 500 or so) then RL itself will die.
My hope is to have the chance for my team to cross swords with the likes of Salford in the middle 8's. For those that berate the new format of competition, our season would now be over without it. As it stands, we have 3 ultra important games to go to the end of the season (Fax, Batley, Bradford and Fev all being strongly in the mix, especially as a few games are between them) - these would be dead games without the middle 8's to strive for.
All the very best to Salford (unless, perchance, they play Fax in the 8's), but Koukash should take the punishment on the chin and move on.
