Great effort from the fans of the Championship sides here, with 2,526 more fans in attendance than bothered with in the regular season. Salford back up the trend set by the SL sides with another pitiful crowd 700 or so below their seasons average if the nicely rounded figure of 3,400 is to be believed.

2,197 fewer fans than the average for the season attended this first week of the race to be crowned the 17th best side in Europe, with only the good folk of Cumbria turning out in better than average numbers.

At the risk of getting this back on topic.

Round 1 delivered 58,848 fans over 12 games (4,904) against a seasons average total of 66,683 (5,557), so 13% down on against seasons averages across both divisions.

An "average" turn out for these games would be 67,505 (5,625) but with St Helens v Hull a must win for both sides, as with Wakefield v Bradford and Salford v Leigh will we see a bigger turn out?

Not bad at all when compared to the attendances at both Salford & Wakey fthis season *& last season too most probably*.



Slightly disappointing that it was under 6k really, I thought KR travelled in big numbers usually but not for this one.

I can't blame KR fans for not travelling to Leigh, it's a long trek over them thar hills & with maybe a feeling that it was an away win dead cert & also with CC Final tickets to buy it might have put many off.



Recently I feel that the Leigh Media Team have almost completely taken their foot off the gas as far as promoting matches is concerned. The club did a great job early on in getting the Town buzzing & 7,500 for the season opener against Bradford, maybe the Club need to revisit promotion strategies.
