I watch the NRL on Premier Sports for the Rugby League, not for the commentary. The commentary is an addition to the coverage. I could quite happily watch the match yet listen to the commentary on 2GB or ABC Grandstand, which I honestly much prefer to the TV commentary. | | | |

Thread is proof that pommies have no taste.
The best commentary team was Nine when it was lead by Voss & Gould. Incredibly knowledgeable pairing and knew how to call a game.
Hadley is a cancer and should stick to brow-beating retirees on talk radio while Warren is a parody of his former self.

Because he's a bellend and a scourge on rugby league, and humanity in a general sense. A decidedly low human being who seems to enjoy bullying people and trying to ruin careers (Voss, Smith, etc)

I agree with you that as a person Ray Hadley is a blight on humanity. But his destructive personal attacks on others only occurs on his radio program in the mornings. He is at radio station 2GB, which is owned by John Singleton, a vulgar entrepreneur who demands ratings at any price. So Hadley, and his preceding breakfast show colleague and arch conservative Alan Jones (former coach of rugby union and rugby league), have found that personal vilification of other public figures is good for ratings. I am sure that they also enjoy doing it. But both have been sued for defamation (Andrew Voss sued Ray Hadley for defamation over a Hadley outburst on radio 2GB in which he called Voss, amongst other things, a "moron" and a "grub" for saying that a statue of Ray Warren recently erected did not look much like Ray Warren. In an out of court settlement which avoided a trial, Hadley apologised to Voss on air, and allegedly paid Voss a six figure sum, according to the Australian media. Subsequently Voss did not have his contract renewed by Channel Nine).
