Interestingly he was having a go at Wigan on Friday night for using Gelling and not giving British youngsters a go and then on Saturday night was having a go at Hull FC for not having any local lads to cover at full back and having to bring in a Wigan lad.  icon_confused.gif" alt="icon_confused.gif" title="Confused" /> |

I thought Clarke said Hull should have had a young lad ready to step in (which is daft considering McKinnon has just left and Horne is presumably injured) not that Hull produce NO youngsters. Which is what Easty said. I think Easty was getting a little tetchy over comments on this thread about the current & historical lack of Hull & Hull KR academy players making it in the first grade. |

Correct, he did say that. Obviously without considering that our first choice FB had gone home, 2nd choice was injured and 3rd choice was playing stand-off. I suppose we could always have thrown another 18 year old at the game, just to please Clarkey.
I'm still at a loss as to the problems with player development in Hull though. At amateur level we can produce players that can more than hold their own against the best that the West Riding, NW Counties and Cumbria can offer but something goes redically awry once they enter the pro-system
