I was surprised that Cahill was only 24. He's not made much of an impact at Crusaders but with a settled pre-season he might go well. I think signing Cross is as good a result as we can hope for when looking for a prop, a former SOO player who will bring invaluable experience to what could be a young pack (Kavanagh, Cahill, Kurt Haggerty). I think it's important Widnes fans appreciate how difficult it is to put together a squad this year.
