The point is, little Graeme, that you add the two - gate and TV ratings - together.



And radio and internet related technologies for that matter.



That is a better way of inferring the interest in a sporting event.



Not just the gate.

The big problem for clubs though is that Tv viewers do not equal $'s in the bank. If the NRL TV deal was x% bigger than they wouldn't be worried about bums on seats but it isn;t and probably won;t be for decades. With that being the case bums on seats becomes hugely importnant from a financial sustainability. As I have said many time before, give me crowds of 30,000 every game over an extra 1million TV viewers over a season any day of the week.
