Will they be electronic turnstiles for season ticket holders seen as its a barcode or will it still be standard ones?

its supposed to be electronic turnstyles but it would be helpful if club would tell us which ones have been converted before first home game

You used to be able to use TESCO vouchers for all SL game . . . .though they dropped that about 3-4 years ago

I asked the question last night and apparently you just hand your card over to the turnstile operator. Assume they will have some sort of handheld device that they can scan it into. Every 'ticket' turnstile should have one.

That's rubbish. I was told we were having "special" turnstiles. I'm taking my ticket back tomorrow.

I am sure there is a distasteful gag in there somewhere but I'll refrain.

You can go through the 'special' turnstile, its the one with the padded entrance.

I'm guessing that wasn't the first plan, but there's been problems. I can't think the club would want to be paying people they don't need to if they could get round it.

It still means they can track which turnstile you go through and have the snipers ready whereas automated turnstiles would just electrocute you as you went through.

It would be pointless putting automatic turnstiles in at Odsal if it's potentially going to get demolished at the end of the year! Perhaps automatic turnstiles will be integrated into the new stadium?

That's a fair point, though I've just checked the blurb and it does say dedicated turnstiles. To be honest I'd have though the electronic jiggery pokery would have been transferable anyway. To be fair it's only like a workplace electronic mechanism......not exactly space age technology!! Mind you, you would have though it was rocket science the bother they had with it where I worked.............

Why? I'd imagine the cost for installing new turnstiles and actually getting power to them would be pretty astronomical! Certainly not worth the outlay if as hoped we'll only be at Odsal for a season. Plus this will probably be quicker than having dopes in front trying figure out where they insert their card and trying to get a mini statement!

Aye, to be honest, I'd not even considered that. Mainly because of my incredible scepticism on anything ever getting done with Odsal, so I forget that there's even a possibility the OSV may happen.



If they get the go ahead for that, you're right, the electronic turnstiles would be fairly pointless and a waste of money. If however they get turned down, while the cost of putting them in may be expensive, I would think long term they would eventually pay for themselves. Daft to make that decision beforehand though, so it does make sense to just have simple scanners for now.

On the matter of scanning the cards, as we boarded the coach to Huddersfield they had a hand scanner and, for some reason, scanned all the cards. There was no clear reason for this as they issue a printed ticket, to show you've paid, when you book. It seemed a bit strange to be honest, after all not everyone would have been a season ticket holder anyway so they won't have got everyone.

It is part of the new marketing system I would imagine. By collecting information about which season ticket holders use the coaches then can target the right section of fans for offers etc. For instance there would be no point offering/reminding me of coach prices etc because I never use them. But you would no doubt find such an email of interest.

That sounds logical until you remember that all the ticket sales (including the coach) are done through the computer anyway. There is a discount for season ticket holders so they need to check when you book the coach.

Ha maybe just checking which people delay the coach by turning up late then..

The last one back after the game was the rep from the club! He got a good cheer when he finally turned up.......



Actually, thinking about scanning, it may have been a test for the hand scanners? I know they'll probably have some unsold cards they could have used, but they won't be on the system like the ones from the fans. Other than that I give up!!
