Rhys Lovegrove just announced is on trial.



He was good at Hull KR and is very welcome to me - he'll fill a definite gap in the front row. One months trial apparently but I'd guess one or three of our signed props will be looking around with frowns on their faces right now.

I thought he was more of a 11, 12 or 13... Pretty sure he is was 13 for London last year?



That said its really not where we need to strengthen is it. Any chance of a 7?! Thackeray was useful on Sunday and stood out more than Addy IMO

Another forward with SL experience to add to the pack. There are players who might be upset by the signing, but I worry it won't be the ones who should nervous.

I'm quite pleased with this signing, where he will play and instead of remains to be seen. I saw him quite a few times for London last season mainly playing prop and it stood out a mile he had played a lot at a higher level, also Jamie Thackray as well. He missed a fair chunk at the end of last season due to a knock to the head, hopefully he's over that

I wonder if this means it's bad news for Ben Kavanagh

The email suggests the club see him as a prop or loose.

Has he had a preseason with London or did he leave end of last season?

He was played mainly at prop, my lad started most games at loose forward but was used more as another prop.

The next 22 rounds can be his pre season, same as Mathers

Lovegrove would be a good addition given the stark drop in quality available after Sidlow, Clough and Kavanagh.



The Fev props showed ours up on Sunday I thought (apart from Sidlow) so I can understand Lovegrove getting an offer.

Decent addition provided we still plenty of cap space for a half and it isn't as a replacement for one of better forwards leaving.

How many ex London players do we have now, I make it 5 off top of my head

But, cynically, I suspect it's either that Kavanagh is out for the season, or the various rumours about Clough are true

Decent signing. I know KR fans were gutted to see him go. Definitely see him more of a wide running second rower than a prop.

I know 'it's another forward' but I think he'll go well for us. Solid, honest grafter who will do the tough stuff for the good of the team. You can never have too many of those types of player in your team. We have a few injuries in the pack at the moment but I expect once all fit we will see several go out on loan. Don't really see much of a place for the likes of Fleming right now and surely Lauaki will be pushed down the pecking order until he can contribute more.



Plenty of incentive for him to have a strong few weeks with us in order to get a deal.

With Crossley, Clark, Kavanagh, & Clough already on the injured list, Lovegrove should at least help short term. Anything that means us not considering Fleming is an improvement in my book. He also can't do any less than Lauaki.



If after that month trial he hasn't impressed enough and two or three of those injured are back, we release him and are no worse off.

Great signing as he stood out for London when he played there and was always steady at KR.



Not sure I like the one month loan options as again I hope it's not like last time we tried it and ended up just getting players fit for their respective clubs (although he's not currently at a permanent club)

It's not a loan. Lovegrove officially left London before we announced his one month trial. If he looks ok we sign on a deal if he doesn't we aren't stuck with him for a yr or two. And it gives us cover while we have four props injured. Think that's pretty sensible way of doing things as opposed to giving out one and two year deals on players who we aren't sure about,like we did last year.

There is a small risk that he impresses for us, then someone else offers him a contact before we tie him up. But I agree, it's 95% in our favour and with current injury situation, makes all the sense in the world.

True there is that risk, but we have decent props to come back in so not end of world if someone nabs him at end of trial. We get cover for next few weeks at a bare minimum so think it's a risk worth taking.
