| I thought he did pretty well tonight. No obvious glitches in defence. Dropped the ball once but then almost every player on the field did that!
He looks a bouncy kind of player and I rather liked that.

| He put Crooks away marvelously twice tonight and made a couple of good bursts. Couple of times took the wrong option or made little errors but that'll come with experience. I thought he was occasionally out of position in attack, taking an unders line when he would of been betting runner overs. That way he could of drew Hall and put Crooks away or exploited a gap between centre and wing. However, with the way Brown has coached Huddersfield's 3/4's I'm confident that in future he'll take the right options.

| Im quite pleased with the signing of Turner. Has great pace which he have desprately lacked in the three quarter line. His defence is abit sketcy at times but with some good coaching he can hopefully iron them problems out...

| I'm 50/50 on the signing of Turner, some weeks I see him and think he looks good but then at times I think he looks poor.
He's got pace, size and power but I think it will come down to browns coaching, if he can do with turner what he's done with the likes of cudjoe, then we will have a very good centre.

I am very hopefully Brown can work his magic on Turner as he has done previously with Cudjoe as you rightly say.

Unfortunately you could also be talking about any one of our current threequarter line ( Josh Jones excepted ).

| One interesting thing to note re the issue of Turners alleged defensive frailties is that at Hull he actually defends in the centres, eg second man out from the wing.
At Saints our Centres defend third man out. With usually a half back defending were you would expect a centre to be tackling.
It may be that Turners extra physical bulk may be better suited to defending 3rd man out, we will find that out next year one way or the other.

| Very talented player but lacks consistency. Seems to drift in and out games quite a bit so maybe it will come as he matures a bit. Potentially the best young British centre in the comp if he can knuckle down and start to show more consistency. Think he'll end up in the back row and his running and strength reminds me of manu. Good signing IMO even though his form has been up and down for Hull

The bit that I find disappointing is that we are relying on Brown to make an improvement to Turner's game, to get him to be a reasonable centre. If the same effort was spent on Shenton, he could have been an excellent centre. I'm sure there is a bigger plan, and bigger picture, but it seems to me that the potential Shenton has is far greater than the potential Turner has.

Maybe Brown doesn't see it that way and it was him who recommended Saints sell Shenton and sign Turner as he sees more potential?
What Turner does bring to our backline is some pace and athleticism which Shenton appears to be lacking. Whether he'll fulfill his potential who knows.

| There's only so much salary cap. Brown may have plans for the funds released from the Shenton transfer.

We'll never know but according to a piece in the weekly press by Millward, Saints were happy with Shenton and didn't want him to leave. They left it up to Shenton.

The problem with Shenton is that he never really kicked on to another level when we signed him from Castleford. I know he had poor service but I thought he would have imposed himself more onto the team. A good coach can always improve a player, this has not really happened with Potter and Simmons, it would have been interesting to see what DA could have done with him.
With Turner it looks as though he has loads of potential but needs lots of development, as already mentioned this might be Nathon Browns perspective with Turner turning him from a "rough diamond" to a future star.
I,m not too bothered at the moment of his inconsitent performances, that can be fixed. I,m sure i read somwhere he is fro this side of the Pennines and he found travelling to Hull a bit of a chore. Maybe settling into a more comfortable environment might speed up his learning curve.

Millward spin.
You don't let under contract players leave, especially without a transfer fee, if you don't want them to.

IMO, he went backwards rather than simply failing to improve.
He made the England team while in a struggling Cas side. He's not looked in the top 2 English centres since being at Saints.
I'm looking forward to watching how Turner develops. Even if he doesn't become a top class centre, we won't be in any worse a position than we are now and almost certainly with a fair bit more cap space.
