He won't play wing mate, we are talking to few wingers (big wingers). Has he played centre ? Id be worried defensively with him in the centre.



Like I said, I'm happy for him to be here until the end of the season like saints wanted originally but 1 1/2 year deal for a player who's agent put him about super league last October and no takers doesn't fill me with joy.



If we can make breaks, he will be there in support that's for sure but that's his best quality, everything after that is below average.

Why people are comparing this signing to Sam Tomkins and questioning if this is our marquee signing I do not know.



The fact he's signed for 18 months clearly suggests to me that we're giving Lomax the chance to prove himself (our "marquee full back"icon_wink.gif and McDonnell is simply a short term option to give us cover in an area we're short.



Saints can re-assess the situation in 12 months or so and aim to bring in a marquee signing should Lomax not recover well enough from his injury.

Really quite sensible. Covers us this season whilst Lomax is injured. Should his comeback fail next year, we're not completely up creek for 12 months while we find a top replacement.

Exactly. Comparisons with Tomkins are meaningless. He's obviously not a marquee signing, but he is going to be handy to have around.

Also, you can argue about his overall quality, but his zip certainly makes him an exciting player to watch.

If the jet lag's not too bad, he could have a field day against Woeful Wakey if our big men get a roll on.

Every time i watched him last year, he looked useful. Similar style of player to Danny McGuire. Not the greastest defensively, but always in the right place at the right time offensively which isnt a skill you can teach as such, but can add a try a game.

Charnock will be at 9 I imagine mate.

Looking forward to seeing that. He may well turn out to be the main benificiary of Lance's retirement.

Charnock (reportedly) has played 1,6 and 9 for the reserves, so should well move into Hohaia's squad position, but KC's reluctance to use him gives me doubts that he'll ever emerge.

I wonder if Greg Eden Might have been a better option for a one and half year deal. He's younger and would have point to prove. I know he's a little dodgy on kicks but he can certainly attack and covers 1 and 6.

Apparently we looked into Eden, but clauses with HKR meant we'd of required a fee for him to come back over

Unreal with ball in hand but makes silly mistakes that let him down. If you could take the mistakes out his game Hed be top class.

I think he had a very poor season last year though, which just left me in doubt about whether a) he could ever cut out the mistakes and b) if the attack was worth the mistakes.

I think we should just let Shannon settle in, he only got 3 games last year which i seem to remember was good, poor, average game respectively.

He,s got good accelaration off the mark and seems to have an eye for support play, he took quite a few good bombs on Friday but never got tested properly defending in open play. If he has good defensive qualities and is durable then he is going to solve a lot of pending dissruption in our backline.
