I'm not 'moaning', I'm expressing concern. If it were to the end of this season, I'd be 100% behind it. I don't really see the value in next season, or rather I don't see the value in giving him a deal for next season now. If he comes in and does well, give him a deal then.

That's true, particularly in the case of Lomax. Sadly it's still unknown if he will be able to play to the same standard again.

So you think that there are absolutely no question marks over how Lomax will return? If he will actually manage to make it through a season? Even if he does will he ever be the player he had the potential to be? And thus you see no value of mitigating these risks?



We were never going to sign a fullback to be ahead of Lomax, given the rumours of Lomax's wage. McDonnell is a super league quality back up and covers the backline ... Because it's not like we ever have trouble in that area!

People complaining about signing a decent backup for an injury hit squad in a position we have injuries and indeed injury prone players.

There's a decent highlights reel of McDonnell on YouTube I think. If he's anywhere near as good for us we'll do just fine.

It depends on his wages. If he's taken Lances big bucks then not a good deal. If he's on top 10 but not top 3 earners, its good business, hes an actual utility player. I suspect it's the latter option and he's just what we need

As i suspected. A good signing as i really believe Lomax is done, at least as the player he was.

Lomax will play again next year, the club are confident of that. I share your reservations about the standard at which he can return though.



The deal makes sense in that it buys us 12 months to sign a replacement if needs be. Lomax has time to prove himself and McDonnell has the next 12 months to prove he's good enough and earn another deal. If neither of things happen then I imagine a big name full back will be high priority for 2017.

50% Lomax is better than McDonnell. If he's as good as some people are saying, then why didn't we offer him a deal last year? Why did no other club want to sign him ? Why hasnt he played first grade with wests?

I don't think anyone is really making him out to be anything special mate. He's an average super league full back but with 2 full backs injured and another retired, it's a signing we had to make.



We didn't offer him a deal last year because nobody could have planned ahead for us to be down to our 4th choice full back at this early stage in the season.

At best he's a solid player who's in his prime, has plenty of experience and is cheap. Evidence suggests he's pretty nippy, has good feet and decent upper body strength.

Sharon is good back up player, he's pretty quick but he's not the sort of player super league champs and im your biased opionon will walk it this year. Wigan bring in tomkins for next year and we are bringing in a second rate Nrl nsw cup player.
