He was never world class. He was always a crash ball player, running onto the good work of other, better, players and using his size to get over. He isn't a centre in a million years, he's a comedy winger.



At Saints he would be solid but nothing more than that. If we stuck him on the wing with Lyon/Gidley he'd score a lot, but at centre he'd get as much stick as he has at Warrington.

Maybe if he played outside Gidley you would see the best of King?



He isn't that bad of a player, he is just simpy out of position and has been for the past 2 years cause Warrington watched him play 2 games at centre last year or something like that.

I think this is spot on.



King looked exceptional with the halves isolating him out wide where his size and strength were too much.



Unfortunately, at Warrington he doesn't have Darren Lockyer and Jonathan Thurston.

Are you suggesting Lockyer or Thurston never played for Australia with Matt King ? I am well aware he had neither at Melbourne.

Leave him where he is, he is good entertainment value. No way can this guy se out his 4 year deal, if he does he should be branded a "thief" and sent to australia on a ship laden with scruvy and oat cakes and branded a convict.

So from the 18 or whatever games he had for Australia outside Lockyer or Thurston you think he made more of an impact than the near 100 he played for Melbourne scoring over 60 tries?

As much as I dislike Saints, I wouldn't wish this bloke on anyone!



This is a perfect example of the Aussies not being the best players individually but being the best team. King was an average player playing for very good teams (club, international and origin level).



In his 30+ games for us, I haven't seen a single thing from him which made me say 'wow'. For you to move from Lyon, Gidley etc to King, would be a joke.

I agree, leave him at Dire for comedy value, him & moneyman make the perfect imports..

There still paying Joey Johns on that 16 year contract..

As for King doing a Paul Davidson once that happens he should be on his way.

King is on 2-3 times Matt Gidley's wage, biggest waste of money ever. He was made to look good with stars around him. Gidley and Lyon make the people round them look world class. We havn't needed to pay a world class winger for years as our centres for the last 4/5 seasons would make me look good.

No we don't want over-payed, over-rated NRL rejects.

Just look at his try scoring record in Aus, its bloody good. He is a winger not a centre and has had to change the way he plays to help Wire.



There are worse players then him in the game.

If we could get him to settle I think he would be devastating for Saints out wide but I really dont think we could afford his wages if the rumours are correct. I'm not convinced centre is his best position either ..if we could get him for meli's wages then I'd take him in a second.

His reputation goes before him and that left a lot of pressure on him when he came to England. Coupled with that he is a winger, playing as a centre which hasn't really helped him. But true enough he has been awful.

Correct. People can take the mick as much as they want and say that he is playing in a poor team and he doesn't get good ball, but that's wrong. At Warrington (last season at least) we did get plenty of ball out wide, and he did very little.

Doesnt mean he is world class.



King comes across as a good player who was aided by being surrounded by class players.

At Warrington he has been shown up.

Is King bothered, though? I mean he'll go back to Aus and have enough money to fund one of Michael Jackson's lawsuits.

He''l probably walk straight back into an NRL team too.
