The RFL should have never let Mr. Leneghan buy WIGAN until he had sold his majority in quins even if it would have meant that quins went bust at that stage.
/>
Ive been fully supportive of Quins inclusion but for all the pros of having a pro club in London in terms of player development, I don't believe that the harlequins franchise does its job as a promotional tool and growing the fan base.
/>
The london franchise is a massive opportunity but will anyone ever be able to make it work?

I remeber seeing it written down in the media somewhere. I can't vouch that it was 100% reliable as I can't remember where it was.

| London isn't interested in rugby league FACT. the amount of homes / names the London club as had in order to survive over the last30 some years is positive proof of that they have been given every advantageous thing . So lets stop deluding ourselves that it will happen in the smoke! get widnes or a Cumbrian team up in super league and admit to the pointless failure that is QUINS.

London clearly IS interested in rugby league if reports of its spread in schools and at amateur level are correct. However, London is vast and Quins RL have been subsumed by where they are located as well as undermined by what I think is a limited coach and a severely limited budget thanks to what appears to be the underhand approach of IL. If the RFL has been able to sort something out for Quins so that they can be competitive again next season in the superleague then I'm all for it. They have local players in the team who have had aspirations to play for Quins and that alone is a sign of just how much rugby league has developed in London. I doubt it will ever be as big as soccer or RU but then there is such a diverse number of sports represented in the capital that most will be unlikely to get the crowds and media attention of those two. However, given the enormous challenges facing RL 30 years go, I think they have made an awful lot of progress and are definitely worth sticking with.

Everyone quotes this but I remain unconvinced. Where is the proof? All I saw on the last visit to the London RL site was loads of 18-nil walkover scorelines. Not indicative of a thriving amateur scene.
3 decades and still struggling to pull together a 2000 fan base. meanwhile dyed in the wool RL towns spend more and more years in the wilderness.
The other thing of course is that grass roots can still be fostered without a SL presence. They can come back when the roots are firmly reaping benefit.
All we see at Quins is empty seats. They offer nothing at all in the way of revenue to the other clubs in respect of visiting fans.
/>
I dont mind being called a ' flat capper' just because I see things how they are. We tried , it hasnt worked. Whats wrong with having a strong heartland anyway ? A nice weekend away in London isnt a good enough reason to hand out a SL franchise.
