| Half the pubs are always shut on match days and parking near the ground is a pain.
Any tips you would like to share.
Pub wise I`m hoping the grove will be open (but only at 12) some cracking beers in there and then amble down to get in around 1.45 but its a bit of a tek and and earlier boozer would be welcome.

| Bradley Mills working mens club, just by the ground (near the retail park, opposite Rickys pub)
We've always been made very welcome in there and the ale is cheap, which is always a major consideration when you are a poor pensioner.

| If you fancy real ale pity you are going by car.
Hudds is best away game for a pint.
Gang of us meet at man picc from st helens manchester stockport warrington train every 20mins to hudds.
Kings head at station 11 30 then left passed the george under bridge to sportsman ( owned by grove people) lots of ales.
back to grove
possible rat and ratchet and star on way back from ground another in kings head then stalybridge buffet bar not to be missed.
If you do go by car why not leave car near grove, walk down to station for kings head and sportsman then taxi from station, only a few quid. Nice walk back to grove for another to celebrate/drown sorrows.
If you do go to any of these and you see grumpy old men behaving badly, come over and say hello.

Thanks for all the advice.
Going by car but I'm not driving. icon_biggrin.gif" alt="icon_biggrin.gif" title="Very Happy" />
Done the train booze trip a few times now - The Riverhead Brewery Tap &buffet bar at staly is great but the kings head is hugely overated.
Sportsman was my local ( & played for the pool team) when I was there at UNI pity the grove have got it in some ways but should mean the booze is better.
Wonder if they kept the authentic decor.
Been speaking to a few locals and will prob park up at The grove OR try the UNI.
