I agree with you Ward would be great as Captain next season, he would be my choice. and he got the makings to be a Leeds great. His work rate in matches is intense, though yet to get to the tackle level before his major injury. He is passionate and leads by example. Off the pitch seems down to earth , pleasant, is media savvy, love his analysis of matches He would motivate and inspire the squad ,just what you want in a Captain. That said I would be hesitant to offer him as be gets injured far too much...handing the Captaincy would be tempting fate. and I am far too superstitious. ..I would maybe offer it to Parcell as a means of ensuring he stays at the club or go with one of Kev's choices Ryan Hall. Wouldn't be surprised though if it is given to Ablett .

Edited this now for Alex Sutcliffe. I hope not but can see it happening. Unless one of JJB, Delaney, Ferres, Ablett, Ward leave.

Yeah.
And what about L Sutcliffe. You've replaced his 14 shirt with Dwyer. Does this mean you think he is deff leaving now?

I would personally like to see him renew his contact and stay with us. He has very good utility value and would make my 17 most weeks.

Really? Over who?
Golding; Briscoe Watkins Keinhorst Hall; Moon Myler; Garbutt Parcell Cuthbertson; JJB Ablett; Ward. Dwyer Galloway Singleton Ferres.
Then you have Delaney, Mullally, Baldwinson, Ormondroyd, Oledzki, Lilley, Smith fighting for places.

My point being it is rare you go a season without many injuries and as sutcliffe can play full back, centre, stand off, loose forward and second row all to a high standard He would probably be in my 17 most weeks. Plus it offers competition for places. In my opinion sutcliffe is no worse than Golding or keinhorst in their respective positions and would push them to improve.
Personally I don't see anything impressive in attack from Golding, and having sutty behind him would push him on. Also, I think we're going to need to address the briscoeissue if he doesn't start to improve soon. And sutty at full back and Golding on the wing could be a good option if half there's no signs of improvement.
I'm basically saying if last year taught us anything, then strength in depth is vital to compete in super league. And sutcliffe is exactly that for us. plus he can kick at goal.

| Sutcliffe is still contracted until the end of next season, I wouldn't be surprised to see him play more at 6 next season, but I'd like to see him given a full season in the centres

| I would like to keep Sutcliffe for the reasons mentioned above
I think the point is would Sutcliffe be happy to sign another contract knowing that he is looked on as a utility player. He is at a stage now where he needs to become a regular in the side imo. I'm not sure which is his best position, fullback or centre possibly.

I think I agree with this. But that's up to him to make a position his own. I think if at the end of last year after that good run of games he had at fb he could have got the no. 1 shirt. Instead he said he wanted stand off and this year he's been out played there by moon.

Sutcliffe's a better fullback than Golding IMO but will be his back up I'd imagine.
He should be vying with Keinhorst for a place at centre should Moon stay in the halves though. If Moon moves back to centre then he's vying with Lilley & Myler for a half back spot.
He'll also, probably, see more game time than JJB, Delaney & Ferres next year...
Cant' believe anyone think's he's not worthy of a place in the squad TBH, although this is Southstander so I shouldn't be that surprised.

He said say in his press conference last week that Leeds haven't written off Sutcliffe off as a 6 yet, but the way Moon has performed since being given the role has probably made him first choice at the moment.

I agree and i hope it works out that way. Id like to see sutcliffe in the left role, im not as high on keinhorst as a lot of people and think sutcliffe would offer a lot more there given a run of games.

From this I would say we need 3 decent forwards and 2 quality backs for the squad to put us back into Finals again. As JP said after the match (or something similar) ,if we fail to reach the final play off's then we need some sort of overhaul. Perhaps if some deadwood is chopped we will have some leverage room under the cap,but other teams seem to be able to attract decent quality players to their squads so why not Leeds.
Thoughts anyone?

| If the 2010 squad was under the cap, the cap surely cannot be an issue in 2017/2018. The serial unwillingness to spend what is permitted could explain why Leeds are only able to recruit journeymen and retain championship quality players.
Somewhat ironic that posting this message while stopping off on the way home - charging my car in the Doncaster Lakeside car-park (a stones throw from the Keepmoat) having watched the game with family in Leeds.

| I think people get too caught up analysing the cap. You would be surprised with some of the wages, and value for money certainly isn't a measure of it.
You would be right to think with player x gone, player y can't be on that, but it would be a wrong assumption. And to be fair although this is poor from a management point, it is indicative of how the low salary cap has restricted throughout the game, and why Super League has gone so far backwards as a result.
