As Marty says..Mark Butterill takes the 16s and 17s, he's an excellent coach imo, over a number of years he has had his teams playing lovely, winning rugby..regularly putting big scores on the likes of saints and wigan.

Poor performance buf given team hasnt played for 3 weeks, its full time players wasnt available and weve no halves at all at this age group its fairly understandable.



Really like Ben Meyhew, always have, but hes no chance of making it at Leeds

AJ, Tom Nicholson-Watton and Max Simpson are good players but theres not much in that team last night.

Agree with you. To be fair I thought Thunder were pretty big and physical, better than I thought but the overall bar wasn't very high (I'm sure with mitigation).

Age-wise we seem to have a real concentration at U17 level, where we have a very handy set of players indeed.

This years u17’s is very important because the Aussie Schoolboys are due to tour next year to take on England Academy.

Morgan Gannon & Levy Edwards will still be eligible and I’ve been impressed with Will Gatus so far so he could be a chance. Max Simpson is another who could make an Academy squad if he keeps improving.

We could easily have 4-5 in the full Academy side.

I like Mayhew hes brave and whole-hearted and he works hard. Hows he going to get past all the players in front of him tho? He is a bit under sized same with Billy Davies, who i really like also.

Walker just comes across so poor in his interviews.

Chev is fine but there are several issues with the 19s at the moment. Firstly we released many of the older lads so its a very young team, the better players are in the full time squad, which is a good thing if they are available, but they currently arent. They are playing a game every 3 weeks which is crackers and the team has zero half backs.

Got my doubts on Chev tbh, His Focus points and messages in his interviews are baffling and it shows on the field imo.

Between now and August tge 19s hsve 2 games. Theyve played 2 in the last 7 weeks. Its crazy.

I hope walkers interviews arent a reflection of his coaching. In the mould of certain other past appointments I'll make a prediction that's hes around a few years before exploring another line of work.

Interesting to note the 2nd rower from London that had a great game v our academy has been selected for Yorkshire, Euan Parke. If he plays every week like he played against Leeds he is someone we should be monitoring.

Yeah seen his name in the squad and remember you highlighting him after we'd played them, the Roses games being shown on ourleague so il be looking out for him.

Do we see Edwards as a centre then?



Do you boys reckon AJ Wallace will break into the first team at some point? He’s an awkward customer to defend.

Levi could end up anywhere hes a pure athlete. Wherever it is hes potential to be a special player.



AJ needs to do more, came back after covid out of shape, hasnt cemented a starting spot in 19s. A good stong runner, mobile and athletic kid.

Won’t be surprised if he’s at a sl club next season, with London going part time.

Another try for Levi Edwards for Batley today, 80m interception, 3 in 3 in the championship now.



York fans impressed with Johnson and Hall aswel, especially Hall who sounds like had a very good game.

Centre

Looks like he’s being groomed at left centre. Could be a good call, he might lack the outright size for the pack although he’d make a cracking LF with his skill set.



Edwards and Broadbent down that LHS could be interesting with Newman on the right.

He wont lack the size for backrow, he's 17, and without knowing his growth rate, he's on course to be as big or bigger than the likes of Bateman, Bentley, Ward, L Farrell etc and more explosive than any of them. Injury and attitude permitting, He'l be excellent wherever he ends up.

Seems a really humble lad too. Big fan of Edwards.



I rate Max Simpson from the little I’ve seen too. He could be very good indeed.
